What made me behave in that way,
saying words I never used
In my humble opinion it is about finally falling in love and feeling is is good
When my face is chamois-creased - When I am old and full wrinkles
If you think I wink I did - older working class northern men wink at people as a sign of affection
Laugh Politely at Repeats - Older people sitting in together the evening watching repeated sit-coms on TV
Kiss me when my lips are thin - A sign of ageing
However, he is singing the word 'would', but you just don't hear all of it with the accent.
I agree with everyone else, this song is about falling in love and realizing that the person you're with is quite special.
1st verse - awakening in a sunlit room the morning after a heavy drunk.
2nd verse - we went at it like animals last night and said words you wouldn't read in the bible... oh, well.
3rd verse - it's morning and I'm ready to go again... what started as a "one nighter" is still developing
and the passion is intense.
4th verse - you're even more beautiful than I'd realized and I'm diggin' it!
5th verse - I'm thinking long term (flash forward)... about growing old together. I pass gas, you
figured it out and I wink to confirm it. More gas passes and you smile. Thin lips referring
to advanced aging.
The remainder of the song deals with the intense feelings of thinking of a future with someone he's just met and how awkward it would be this early in the relationship to discuss such things.

A tune nicely done over about six chords... but lovely nonetheless!
I'm totally in love with this guy who loves me, and we were together for 2 years. And now he's away for two years, and I can only speak to him by letter and email.
But somehow his letters and emails still manage to make me feel the emotions in this song, and- more than that- I get to speak to him once a year on Christmas day...
