Innocence.
Sunk the glow and drowned in covers,
send for all your absent lovers things.

Sheepish Wolves.
Looking lived in eating buttons,
Wink, just don't put your teeth on me.

Accidents.
Let the evening in the backdoor,
filled the room ceiling to the floor.

Beat backbones.
Grazed the poem and made it strange,
I wasn't born to be a skeleton.

Go on,
grab your hat and fetch a camera.
Go on, film the world before it happens.

Jealous orchard.
The sky is falling off the ceiling
while I'm tucking fibs into a cookie jar.

(Bombed) reverie.
It's useless searching in the cupboards
when everything you have is on your back.

General Comment:Its about anorexia. "I wasn't born to be a skeleton" and "fetch your camera" means take pictures of the other people who you want to be like

General Comment:i think its about growing out of your dream lands innocence, having to leave behind what is familiar as a child the oddity of everything and how anything can be miraculous, remember when everything you looked at had something amazing about it, i think that's the meaning...but to tell the truth i don't know how many of panic at the disco songs actually have a meaning...hehehe

General Comment:usually these 'finding the meaning of a song' websites only work for songs with one pretty obvious meaning that some people are too slow to find....this song doesn't really apply to that it could have various meanings for different people so it's more like reading how other people interpret it rather than what the song is actually ABOUT. if you think about it hard enough the lyrics could be about anything.

General Comment:This song is about a failed relationship or kind of person (maneater)....heres how:

    Innocence.
Sunk the glow and drowned in covers,
send for all your absent lovers things.

Innocence disappears in covers (as in the person loses innocence once she/he is in bed)
This person isn't around (or is incredibly distant)

    Sheepish Wolves.
    Looking lived in eating buttons,
Wink, just don't put your teeth on me.

Sheepish wolves can mean 2 things...
    1. The person wants a lot but isn't willing to commit for it (wants sex but no relationship)
    2. or refers to the saying "a wolf in sheeps clothing" meaning the person acts innocent but really isn't
the next lines mean the person is happy with living the way they do even if it isn't the whole anchilada or orthidox. It's okay for that person to be like that but I (the singer/brendon) won't take part in it (again).

    Accidents.
Let the evening in the backdoor,
filled the room ceiling to the floor.

heres where it gets personal to the singer:
Part of truth somehow slipped (accidently I suppose)
and then the rest of the truth was told.

    Beat backbones.
Grazed the poem and made it strange,
    I wasn't born to be a skeleton.

the person didn't want to say anything about it or let the cheating end the relationship(lack of a backbone/being weak or soft)
but what was a beautiful relationship (poem-like) was scratched out and now the relationship is uncomfortable and akward
the singer wasn't born to be left in a corner and ignored the way he/she was.

    Go on,
grab your hat and fetch a camera.
Go on, film the world before it happens.

take something out of this story, go out, see the hints for yourself and make sure not to let it happen to you.

    Jealous orchard.
The sky is falling off the ceiling
while I'm tucking fibs into a cookie jar.

Ther person is jealous all the time (an orchard full of jealousy) and because of that it feels as if the their worldis ending because this feeling is eating him alive but he doesn't want to end the relationship.
But he doesn't tell anyone and hides his feelings about it (a cookie jar=smiles "oh no hun I'm fine" etc.)

    (Bombed) reverie.
It's useless searching in the cupboards
when everything you have is on your back.

bombed reverie means destroyed daydream so something he thought was a perfect relationship turned out to end up in disaster.
There is no going around it and you can't hope things were somehow different. You know the truth and you have to deal with it.

proof that this is what the song means: The song title is a quote from the band's producer Rob Mathes, when he was explaining to them about a pretty girl.

    Jealous orchard.
The sky is falling off the ceiling
while I'm tucking fibs into a cookie jar.

The singer is now paranoid and jealous all the time (a very large amount judging the size of an orchard)
it feels as if this persons world is ending because of how he constantly feels about it. but he won't tell anyone about it aand he lies to the cheater because he still doesn't want things to end.

    (Bombed) reverie.
It's useless searching in the cupboards
when everything you have is on your back.

bombed reverie means is basically a shattered daydream so what this person thought was a great relationship ended up being a disaster
and no matter how hard you try you can't change what happened or look for any alternate siyuations that could've happened when you already know the whole story.

I basically peiced this together by myself (and im incredibly proud...) I'm only fourteen and I actually got to make sense of lyrics by someone like ryan ross!! (he is a litereray genius!!) ^-^

and if you don't think this is what the song means the heres something I found on song facts: The song title is a quote from the band's producer Rob Mathes, when he was explaining to them about a pretty girl.

My Interpretation:This may just be a coincidence, but the line "I wasn't born to be a skeleton" is like a quote written by Arthur Rimbaud.
The quote is from Rimbaud's A Season In Hell and, translated, means "I wasn't born to become a skeleton"

I don't know, Panic! just seems like the type to make references to literature, etc. who knows.

General Comment:From Arthur Rimbaud's "Une Saison en Enfer/A Season in Hell":

"I am a widow... - I was a widow... - ah yes, I was really serious once, and I was not born to be a skeleton!... - He was hardly more than a child. His mysterious delicacies had seduced me. I forgot all my duty to society, to follow him. What a life! Real life is absent. We are not in the world. I go where he goes, I have to. And often he flies into a rage at me, me, the poor soul. The Demon! He is a demon, you know, he is not a man."

    And a few passages later...:

"He says: 'I do not like women: love must be reinvented, that's obvious. A secure position is all they're capable of desiring now..."

It's obvious that they're paying homage to Rimbaud/Une Saison en Enfer. I think this really alters any interpretations of the song - you've got to look at Rimbaud and the way he lived his life, as well as the content of Une Saison. Etc, etc...

General Comment:I think the general idea, at least for the chorus. Is to just make the best of life. Get your camera and explore the world. Before you crash, while you're happy, just do anything you can to keep going until you can't anymore.
"It's useless searching in the cupboards when everything you have is on your back"
Don't be asking around for the answer that you already know you know. There's no point to still try. You know everything you need to know.

This may not make sense later lol.. I'm a little tired

General Comment:It seems im the only one that has thought of it this way, but the first sentence of each verse (innocence, sheepish wolves etc) is to do with Adam and Eve..

    Innocence.
    --
Adam and Eve knew no bad, they were in paradise.
Theres also a reference to lovers in the verse too.

    Sheepish Wolves.
    --
The devil comes along, and convinces them to take the apple.. theyre sheepish about it.

    Accidents.
    --
    They eat the apple. Mistake.

Let the evening in the backdoor,
filled the room ceiling to the floor.
    --
Theyve unleashed all the guilt, embarresment etc that they never had before.

    Beat backbones.
    --
Getting punished and banished from the Garden.

    Go on,
grab your hat and fetch a camera.
Go on, film the world before it happens.
    ---
Well, Adam and Eve was before the world happened, right? So it makes sense..

    Jealous orchard.
The sky is falling off the ceiling
while I'm tucking fibs into a cookie jar.
    --
Theyre all on their own and pretty helpless, wishing they were in the orchard, jelous of how they were living. (For the sky is falling off the ceiling, its that their world as they knew it is falling down and no longer exists)

    Reverie.
It's useless searching in the cupboards
when everything you have is on your back.
    ---
They want forgiveness, but theyre pretty stuck, theres no point, all you have is the clothes on your back (They never wore clothes before they ate the apple, now thats all they have)
