one breath, too late
you're gone for good.
twelve floors down to the street
it's funny how far it seems
but what could i do
and what would i change
when everything's strange
and why should i learn to fly
when i could just hide away
isn't it strange?
under my skin
scars turn to stone
the freeway fades red to grey
i guess you found another way home
but what could i do
and what would i change
when everythings strange
and why should i learn to fly
when i could just, drive away
isn't it strange?
standing on this ledge up here
with a choir of angels in my ear sing
welcome to my life
if i fall if i brake
will you hear the sound i make
i don't need what we left behind
but what could i do
and what would i change
when everything's strange
and why should i learn to fly
and what could i do
and what would i change
when everything's strange
and why should i learn to die
when i could just fly away
isn't it strange?
you're gone for good.
twelve floors down to the street
it's funny how far it seems
but what could i do
and what would i change
when everything's strange
and why should i learn to fly
when i could just hide away
isn't it strange?

but what could i do
and what would i change
when everything's strange
and why should i learn to fly
and what could i do
and what would i change
when everything's strange
and why should i learn to die
when i could just fly away
isn't it strange?

I'm not entirely sure what he meant the song to be about, but this song fits exactly into my way of thinking at the moment. A boy I knew died a few days ago. I didn't really know him, and I just feel really strange all over. He's gone for good, and maybe if they got to him earlier, maybe he'd be alive, but they were one breath too late. But another boy who was in the car with him did survive, and is still living. And when he wakes up from his coma-like state, he'll find out that his friend died. He drove into a tree, and there's something about the line "I guess you found another way home," that makes me really sad.
Even if that wasn't the intent of the song, that's what the song means to me.
the last lines "and why should i learn to die
when i could just fly away
isn't it strange?" he realizes he has the strength to move on and he gets over her. he realizes life goes on and he isn't dieing without her
'one breath too late, and your gone for good'
i think its in the eyes of two people, it starts of with the victims friend
then verse 2 is the victim 'what could i do? what could i change?'
'why should i learn to fly when i could just hide away'
then back to the friend, then back to victim.
maybe?
a 'strange' take on the song :P
i think the first part is about a girl who he loves, but she doesn't know. He has been trying to pluck the couragee up to talk to her but it was too late...?
"and why should i learn to fly
when i could just hide away"
should i try anymore?
i'd love to know other peoples opinions of this song!
