Lyrics for Breezy as interpreted by lovenothing__

Breezy Lyrics
Move your slender fingers
Help me play this song
Spend another night inside this rented mansion
I love you now
I know that doesn't matter
I love you now
I know that doesn't matter

Kissing me full of beer, tequila, weed, and candy
Walking down the boardwalk
Act like we were married
You always made it easy
Then I'd want you more
You always kept it easy
Then I'd want you more

Too smart for your own good
Too sweet, too logical
Statistics round your head
Tried to teach me about baseball
My favorite was the part when they make it home
I like it when they steal, and when they make it home

You left us with a sorrow too unreal to help
Heard the birds sound broadcast speakers at the Phoenix hotel
All your friends are standing, crying, on the sidewalk
All your boyfriends, they were standing crying on the sidewalk

Breezy, I feel dizzy
Can you help me up?
It's crowded at the back door
How we getting to the bus?
I'd like to help you find it if there's something better
Yeah, I'll try and help you find it if there's something better

Move your slender fingers
Help me play this song
Spend another night inside this practice mansion
I love you now
I know that's all that matters
I love you now
And I know that's all that matters

Breezy and Sabrina Duim are the same. The song is just about friendship and memories and missing someone who's gone. It's really sweet and it makes me sad.

Saw Conor play this live at the Troubador in Los Angeles on 8/5. From cruising the internet it seems he's been closing every show with this song. Wow, what a song. That night was the first I had ever heard the song and knew immediately it would be one of my faves forever. Thanks to the website http://www.sabrinaduim.com/ the song is available to everyone!

Amazing, and Sabrina seems like she must have been an amazing person.

This song was sad before I knew what it's about. But now that I know it's even sadder, I hate that people have to die young. I hate that people have to die at all.

I think this song is about a lover that passed away.

"Move your slender fingers
Help me play this song"

He is wanting her "spirit" to help him write the song. Considering it is the first line in the song.

The mansion he refers to is the one he recorded his latest material. Including this song.

It doesn't matter if he loves her. Shes not there.

The next paragraph are memories he had with her. I love the imagery in "Walking down the boardwalk
Act like we were married"

"Tried to teach me about baseball
My favorite was the part when they make it home
I like it when they steal, and when they make it home"
Hands down the best lines in the song.

"You left us with a sorrow too unreal to help
Heard the birds sound broadcast speakers at the Phoenix hotel
All your friends are standing, crying, on the sidewalk
All your boyfriends, they were standing crying on the sidewalk"

This sounds like a funeral.

"Breezy, I feel dizzy
Can you help me up?
It's crowded at the back door
How we getting to the bus?"

Drunken sick at a bar. Wanting to get on his tour bus.

"I'd like to help you find it if there's something better
Yeah, I'll try and help you find it if there's something better"

He'd do anything to help if there was anything he could do.

And the last line he relized that it down matter if he loves her because shes still with him.

This song is very poetic. I love the imagery he uses. Very sad song.

This song is on the new Gentlemen's Pact EP and that version is the most amazing by far, chilling even.

does anyone else feel its like an odysseus who just escaped from circe and lost his penelope? the piano are the gentle waves and the woodwind thing is the oar. also the end where everything cacophonizes it is an orchestrated version of payer beads.

Breezy was originally written by the the mystic valley band before Conor was a member, thus assuring its not about Sabrina Duim. He just re-recorded it with them due to it being his favorite, ha. Other than that, Im sure it was just written about a dear friend.

iludora, that is not necessarily true. If in fact The Mystic Valley Band wrote the song before Conor was with them, maybe it was under a different title. Cassadaga, the album by Bright Eyes, (which of course consists of Oberst and various other artists) has "We love you, Breezy, and we miss you!!!" written on the cover and one can only assume that Conor didn't write that on his album because of the MVB's song. Cassadaga was released April '07 and Duim died January of that year, the dates certainly correlate. Regardless of who it's about it's painstakingly obvious what it's about so I'm not going to regurgitate what everyone else has said. But it is a very touching, very sobering song.

Breezy was sabrina's nickname and its not written by MVB, if its not about her then why is it on her tribute site. . .
