I woke dreaming we had broke
Dreaming you left me for someone new
And you cried, drying those brown eyes
Crying you're sorry, sorry won't do

But this is the way I need to wake
I wake to you
And you never left me
All that I dreamed had been untrue
Open my eyes
I see sky

Oh, oh, oh, oh, you know the way to keep me on my toes
I, I, I will be fine, just say you'll stay forever mine
Till we fall asleep tonight

Last night, we had a great fight
I fell asleep in a horrible state
Then dreamed that you loved my best friend
My heart would not mend, seemed it was fate

But this is the way I need to wake
I wake to you
And you never left me
All that I dreamed had been untrue
Open my eyes
I see sky

Oh, oh, oh, oh, you know the way to keep me on my toes
I, I, I will be fine, just say you'll stay forever mine
Till we fall asleep tonight

Sometimes I forget to love you like I should (Love you like I should)
But I'd never leave you, no, I never would
I never would

Oh, oh, oh, oh, you know the way to keep me on my toes
I, I, I will be fine, just say you'll stay forever mine
Oh, oh, oh, oh, you know the way to keep me on my toes
I, I, I will be fine, just say you'll stay forever mine
Till we fall asleep tonight
Till we fall asleep tonight

such a great song. you never know how much something means to you until you lost it. lucky for him, he only dreamt it. but it's got a great message. even when it's rough be thankful for what you've got.

AWESOME song. These are both very talented artists. I think the song is about two lovers who have bad dreams and wake up worried that their dreams were real, only to see they're not. It's ultimately sweet in that it is talking about how when you're in love, you want to wake up to that person, and waking up with them makes everything all right, no matter what. ("This is the way I need to wake...") Also, having that bad dream makes you realize how important it is to let that person know how much you love them, hence the "keep me on my toes."

Lately I have been having these dreams... Not sure if it has to do with my insecurities (I know you're too good for me, I know someday you will wake to me and realize I am not enough for you) or whether it has to do with me having feelings for someone else who I shouldn't (it would never work out and I need to be faithful)

It definitely keeps me on my toes... I try and make it work everyday..."sometimes I forget to love you like I should" because I take you for granted some days...I don't know how much you mean to me now but I am slowly learning everyday... The only way I learn is through these dreams of mine where I keep losing you to someone else...

This song is just perfect. It's the ultimate happy song, Joshua Radin and Ingrid Michaelson's voices just fit perfectly together. Lovelovelove it.

I don't think it's a happy song at all; it's kind of just showing how these two people are happy in theory, and they love each other, but when they get deep down into it, they don't trust one another. This is only expressed in their dreams.

Ingrid is suspicious that Joshua is sleeping around on her with her best friend, he thinks she'll dump him when someone 'new' comes along.

Am I reading too much into it? Most definetly. Still, it's got me thinking.

I don't think this is a song about people who are content; they're kind of happy, but there's still a lot of insecurities.

To me, this song IS happy, but underneath it all, there is unease and obviously some doubt. The couple is happy, but they both can't help but be afraid that their lovers will eventually cheat on them and/or leave them. Everything between them is wonderful until they fall asleep, which is where their subconscious thoughts surface. The love between them is absolutely overpowering, they just need to learn to get over their insecurities. Also, 'i will be fine, just say you'll stay forever mine' shows that there is one person in the relationship that needs constant reassurance from the other to know whether they really care about them or not. But even this can't rid them of their feelings of unease.

    Song Meaning

I think this song is about two people who love each other very much, and though there are ups and downs in their relationship ("Sometimes I forget to love you like I should, but I'd never leave you"), they still would never leave their partner because they love each other so. But there's ALWAYS that underlying fear that the other will leave him/her, presenting itself in their dreams where they can't control things and see the rational side of things. But when they wake and see their beloved, who hasn't left or cheated on them, they probably love and appreciate them more. So they need to be reminded by the other one's presence that says they won't leave.

It's a cute and beautiful song, I like it.

they sing so great together. but in all honestly, i do think the dreams are symbolic for the underlying trouble in thier relationships. but they choose to ignore it while they are awake becasue it is easier to go on together then to break up.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
