You need not to climb mountain tops
You need not to cross the sea
You need not to find a cure
For everything that makes you weak

You need not to reach for the stars
When life becomes so dark
And when the wind does blow against the grain
You must follow your heart

You must follow your heart

When all your friends have come and gone
And the sun no longer shines
And the happiness for which you long
Is washed away like an oceans tide

When all the hard times outweigh the good
And all your words are misunderstood
When the day seems lost from the start
You must follow your heart

You must follow your heart

If you feel you've paid the price
And your wounds should cease to heal
And everything you love in life
Spins like a winding wheel

If you should wake to find you're abandoned
And the road you traveled leads to a dead end
When death creeps in to play it's part
You must follow your heart

You must follow your heart

This is a truly beautiful song...

I feel that it talks about how there is a man who is trying to convinve the one that he loves that she is making the right choice, no matter how painful it may be...

Even when the decisions that she made have taken her down the wrong path and further away from him, he continues to encourage her to follow her heart, in hopes that it will lead her back to him...

Once again, this is a beautiful song, and it choked me up the first time I heard it...

Does anyone else feel like he's speaking directly to you? I can't listen to this without crying, it just feels so personal.

great song. one of those songs i could see myself sending to someone in a funk. I don't want to call it a self-help song, but that's kinda what it is. the good friend talking to another from the bottom of his/her heart trying to sincerely help the other person.

meaning is pretty straight forward, too.

some don't like the new harmonica songs, but i think it fits well in most of the songs.

    My Interpretation

Like John Mayer's "Heart of Life," this is a pick-up song.

It's prettymuch saying that when you're depressed, life isn't as far away as you think it is. You don't need to "reach for the stars,/ when life becomes so dark," all you need to do is follow your heart. Then he gives a few more examples of how life gets tough, but all you need to do is listen to your heart.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
