the song was written by andy butler and he has stated that it was about being gay when he was a teenager and the advice he would give to himself. its also intresting to note that almost if not all members of the band are openly gay. clearly its a song of hope "the stars could only get brighter". though i think its a song that allows you to take your own message and meaning from the lyrics.

The stars shed light on my face is finding that love but when your alone because you have openned whatever very private box, you start going crazy with those memories, becoming blin to the other persons feelings.
