The words expressed in this song are derived from a wanting heart. Some men aren't good with words when it comes to breaking things off with their female counterparts. Women give all to the relationship, body, soul and spirit.
When we as men do not know how to be honest and clear with our GFs we tend to speak ill, stupid, and irrepressible things just to get away with our cheating.
When Adele sings about the "Cold Shoulder", she is clearly speaking about the immediate change in us men, that happens when someone else captures our interest.
I am guilty of this ugly part of me. The cold shoulder is shown by not caring for whatever is of concern to your GF. Mood swings are often the pattern markers of a man interested in someone else other than her.
Our GFs often asks us what is wrong in order to fix it, when obviously she's not the problem. But to no avail. We (men) tend to find any excuse to launch our campaign against them instead coming clean and breaking off. We feel our GFs annoy us, and in order to cover our faults we tend to talk down to them and demoralize them. Disgusting!
