Four letter word just to get me along
It's a difficulty and I'm biting on my tongue
And I, I keep stalling, keeping me together
People around gotta find something to say now
Holding back, everyday the same
Don't wanna be a loner
Listen to me, oh no
I never say anything at all
But with nothing to consider they forget my name ('ame, 'ame, 'ame)

They call me, "Hell"
They call me, "Stacey"
They call me, "Her"
They call me, "Jane"
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name
They call me, "Quiet girl"
But I'm a riot Mary, Jo, Lisa
Always the same
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name

I miss the catch if they throw me the ball
I'm the last chick standing up against the wall
Keep up, falling, these heels they keep me boring
Getting glammed up and sitting on the fence now
So alone all the time at night
Lock myself away
Listen to me, I'm not
Although I'm dressed up, out and all
With everything considered they forget my name ('ame, 'ame, 'ame)

They call me, "Hell" (this song was in my head)
They call me, "Stacey" (now it's in my mind)
They call me, "Her" (call it, reach it, get some words and get some timing)
They call me "Jane"
That's not my name (and though I realize I cannot emphasize)
That's not my name (I'll stick around but just don't promise, nothing binding)
That's not my name
That's not my name
They call me, "Quiet girl" (and baby, can't you see, that you're so desperately)
But I'm a riot
Mary, Jo, Lisa (a standing joker like a vocal one-liner)
Always the same
That's not my name (instead of sing-a-long)
That's not my name (this song is monotone)
That's not my name (I've gotta get some soul)
That's not my name (I gotta get some feeling)

Are you calling me, darling?
Are you calling me bird?

They call me, "Hell" (are you calling me darling?)
They call me, "Stacey"
They call me, "Her"
They call me, "Jane"
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name
They call me, "Quiet girl" (are you calling me bird?)
But I'm a riot

I thought it was about a girl who sleeps around and in the morning when theres "nothing to consider" they forget her name. The suggestion that she sleeps aroud lies in the lyrics "don't want to be a loner" and "four letter word (her name) just to get me along". She also sings that people think she's quiet but she actually goes around sleeping with people and is therefore a 'riot'. The kyrics "these heels they keep me boring Getting glammed up and sitting on the fence now" suggest that its not enough to just go out coz she feels the same as everyone else, so she'll sleep with someone to feel different... until the morning when they forget her name. She does this to prevent here from being "So alone all the time at night". It can't be about school since "bird" and "darling" are predominantly used by guys to girls if they don;t know their name and the lyrics"Are you calling me darling? Are you calling me bird?" suggest this is what she is often called

Distro, I appreciate you don't agree with my interpretation but you have failed to say what you DO agree with and what your interpretation is. How am I supposed to re-evaluate what I interpret the song to be about if you don't tell my why my is sad and ridiculous and why your interpretation would be more appropriate

The Guardian says that this song is a "tale of music industry indifference to White's previous outfit, pop trio Dear Eskiimo."

So basically the song has exactly the same meaning as Mika's "Grace Kelly."

The TIng Tings are so shit you just want to yell at the radio.

Part of this song is about when Katie White (frontwoman) went to school with a girl called Stacy Pike (name checked in the chorus) , everyone kept calling her Stacy pike and she was like 'thats not my name, im not that forgettable am i'? Also its about how they were feeling frustrated with the record company they were with at the time.

I also agree with Jenezzy. What she says is exactly what it means, and I just wrote some lyrics for a similar song inspired by this one. And, Distro if u gonna get disrespectful at least have something to back it up. And also I like the way you responded to what Distro wrote. High 5 Jenezzy :)p

Great song! I tried to figure out what Jules was saying:

.. it's in my head, now it's in my mind Call it, reach it, get some words and get some timin' Though I realize, I cannot emphasize Sittin' round with just a promise, nothing binding Whatever, can't you see that it's so desperately Standing joker like a .. Instead I sit alone, the sound is monotone I gotta get some soul, I gotta get some feelin'

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
