he's having a hard time moving on, and he wishes for a second chance but he knows it's not going to happen. it's been hurt in the past before, and he thought this time was going to be different but he's hurt and left alone once again.
My interpretation:

Basically he's made some mistakes, the girl is tired of it.
He knows that she can do better, but he's begging her to stay, because he needs her.
