Lyrics for ...But You Are Vast as interpreted by punkpirate

...But You Are Vast Lyrics
You're no good for me
My formulated drug
An acquired taste awaits to sate
This unrequited love
It tastes so gray, yet necessary
To sustain frustration, take
Just enough to get you fucked up
Not so much that it drives you away

A constant escape
The magnificent restraint that it takes
To stay away, I've no control at all
I constantly dream
The memories invade the things I keep with me
I'm getting high on the roof of the world

You are no good for me
You are the bent and blackened spoon
You are the butane, you are the bedroom
You are the improbable excuse
For the horrible things that I do

You're no good for me
But I guess not bad enough
Because on quiet nights I come to find you
Crawling through my kick drum
Hell bent on deliverance of all the privileges

Of being with you, heaven sent, I crane my neck
To watch you desperately march down my chest, enjoying every step
Emphasized by distances we never intended
You come crawling back through my regrets to remind me of what you said

We're no good at this

It seems to be about a girl who he hooks up with. Problem is, he's in love with her but she isn't in love with him. He starts doing a lot of things he deeply regrets because he can't handle her emotional rejection. He knows he needs to get away from her for good, but his yearning for her causes him to continue sleeping with her and further hurt himself.

One of the best songs about pure desperation I've ever heard.

The new album is growing on me.

Maybe it's about a drug addiction? That's what I get from it.

I think the "drug addiction" is a metaphor being employed.

i agree with the aggressor, the drug emphasis shows how much he needs that someone in his life.

personally i happen to think it's about alcoholism (just like they have a song about cigarrette addiction) because, everytime i've seen them he's been pretty hammered

Yeah this song sounds like a relation ship thing, its not, Its about being addicted to heroin.

"You are no good for me
You are the bent and blackened spoon
You are the butane, you are the bedroom
You are the improbable excuse
For the horrible things that I do"

Blackened spoon is cooking it, the butane in the lighter to cook it in your bed room.

"You're no good for me
But I guess not bad enough"

And here its saying that the drug is no good for him, but not bad enough to keep him away.

"Just enough to get you fucked up
Not so much that it drives you away"

Enough of the drug to fuck you up, but not enough to kill yourself.

Heroin = metaphor. It being the most harmful/addicting drug, he's comparing the person to it to show just how bad they are for him. "You are the bent and blackened spoon..." is obviously not him talking to the heroin; he's talking to the person this song's about.
