[Sample]
Now little Terry got a gun he got from the store
He bought it with the money he got from his chores
He robbed the candy shop told them lay down on the floor
Put the cookies in the bag; take the pennies out the drawer
Lil' Khalil got a gun he got from the rebels
To kill the infidels and American devils
A bomb on his waist, a mask on his face
Prays five times a day yet listens to heavy metal
Little Alex got a gun he took from his dad
That he snuck into school in his black book bag
His black nail polish, black boots and black hat
He's gon' blow away the bully that just pushed his ass
[Lupe]
I killed another man today
Shot him in his back as he ran away
Then I blew up his hut with a hand grenade
Cut his wife throat as she put her hands to pray
Just five more dogs then could get a soccer ball
That's what my commander says
How old? Well I'm like ten, eleven
Been fighting since I was like six or seven
Now I don't know much about where I'm from
But I know I strike fear everywhere I come
Government wants me dead so I wear my gun
I really want the rocket launcher but I'm still to young
This candy gives me courage not to fear no one
To feel no pain and hear no tongue
So I hear no screams and I shed no tear
If I'm in your dreams then your end is near
[Chorus, Nikki Jean]
Little weapon, little weapon, little weapon
We're calling you, there's a war
If it comes not just too tall for you
You find you something small to use
Little weapon, little weapon, little weapon
Yanked you now, pow
(Lupe)
Now here comes the march of the boy brigade
A McCar parade of the toys he made
And in shimmer shades who looks half his age
About half the size of the flags they waved
And camouflage suits made to fit youths
Cause the ones off dead soldier fits a little loose
With AK-47 that they shooting into heaven
Like they trying to kill the Jetsons
They struggle little recruits
Cute, smileless, heartless, violent
Childhood destroyed, avoided of all childish ways
Can't write their own names
Or read the words on their own graves
Think you gangsta popped a few rounds
These kids will come through and murder a whole town
And sit back and smoke and watch it burn down
The grave gets deeper the further we go down
[Chorus]
[Bishop G]
Imagine if I had to console
The family of those
Slayed that I slain on game consoles
I aim I hold, right trigger to squeeze
Press up and y one less nigga breathe
B for the bombs, press pause for your moms
Make the room silence she don't approve of violent games
She leaves resume activity
Start and blew hearts, with poor harsh wizardry
On next part I insert code
To sweeten up the purses of murder work load
I tell him he work for
CIA with A
And operative, I operate this game all day
I hold a controller connected to the soldier
With weapons on his shoulder, he's only seconds older than me
We playful but serious, now keep on mind for online experience
[Chorus x 2]

This song is about the same thing. Child soldiers in the "holy" wars and civil wars.
Then, throughout the rest of the song, Lupe Fiasco relates back to these three children, but at different times. When Lupe Fiasco talks about blowing up a hut, he is referring to Little Khalil and the fighting children in Africa. The children are trained to feel no guilt or pain when killing citizens. This is obviously a major problem in Africa in today’s society.
In the last paragraph, Lupe Fiasco relates violence to video games. Lupe Fiasco is hinting that the violent video games are making young children think that killing people is okay. A death in a video game has no emotion behind it, but in real like things are the complete opposite. If children are exposed to violent video games at an early stage in life, the children will not know better and will think life is just like a video game.
The main story of Lupe’s two verses is the use of child soldiers around the world. Verse one explains the life of a child soldier. He shots a man, destroys a hut with a grenade, and kills his wife by cutting her throat. In this verse, Lupe highlights the fact that they were so young and even started killing at an even younger age. They are trained to kill and to feel no emotion when doing so. Verse two continues this theme of child soldiers. He explains how killing has become their way of life being deprived of a normal childhood.
The final verse by Bishop G explains the effects of violent video games on kids. With these games, they are exposed to this violence at an early age, thinking that it is cool to kill people and it is just as easy as pressing a button. Kids often imitate what they see, which can lead to actual gun usage if they have access to one. As a whole, Lupe uses this verse to compare the exposure to violence in the first world countries like the US with the child soldiers in these third world countries.
Lupe Fiasco is a rapper who conveys many messages throughout his songs, and it is pretty apparent and agreed upon that he is focusing on child soldiers in this particular song. However the overall message that he is trying to portray is interpreted differently around the world. After skimming the possible explanations of this song, I have narrowed it down to three probable understandings. Oly7 believes Lupe Fiasco is highlighting how people, especially Americans, are overly concerned with violence in videogames corrupting the youth, when there are more serious issues at hand. Oleander considers the purpose of this song is to make American children think twice about the casual way they see violence (guns) in videogames. Lastly, Soccerman90 points out that Lupe Fiasco is stating that violence is everywhere, and children are bound to experience it in different forms.
In my opinion, Lupe Fiasco’s true purpose lies in between the interpretation of Oly7 and Oleander. He is trying to say that blowing up neighborhoods and “popp[ing]a few rounds” in video games make us feel “gangsta” and cool. These games allow for a setting where violence can be practices without consequence and Lupe is saying that this is not reality. There are kids that have been fighting since six and seven forced to do casual killings that we partake in inconsequentially in videogames. With each killing these adolescent soldiers lose their humanity, childhood, and future. In one verse, Lupe raps
“To fear no pain, and hear no tongue,
So I hear no screams and I shed no tear,
If I'm in your dreams then your end is near (Fiasco)”
The adolescent soldiers have no remorse for their actions, because they have been brainwashed to view violence as ordinary and the normal way to achieve order. In general I think Lupe Fiasco is stating that video game deceive the gamer of reality. Because in reality murder and guns have the power to change lives, especially the unfortunate lives of child soldiers in Africa and the Middle East
The family's of those slain and slayed on game consoles,
I aim, I hold, right trigger to squeeze,
Press up and Y, one less nigga breathe,
B for the bombs, press pause for your moms,
Make the room silent, she don't approve of violent
Games, she leave, resume activity
Starred and blue hearts of card shark wizardry,
On the next part I, insert code
To sweeten up the little person's murder workload,
I tell him he work for CIA with "A"
A operative, I operate this game all day
I hold the controller, connected to the soldier,
With weapons on his shoulder,
He's only seconds older,
Than me,
We: playful but serious,
Now keep that online for online experience"
This is the verse most families need to pay attention and people in general cause it's the most current. Everything else in the song is going on or was but this verse caught my attention because a long time ago I found out that the CIA is who actually created the XBOX for the soul purpose of mind control.
Than me..."
Uh, what? Someone explain? I'm thinking like, respawning, but then again, I have no clue.
