Lyrics for Chasing Pavements as interpreted by brandiibear

Chasing Pavements Lyrics
I've made up my mind,
No need to think it over,
If i'm wrong I aint right,
No need to look no further,
This ain't lust,
This is love but,

If i tell the world,
I'll never say enough,
Cause it was not said to you,
And thats exactly what i need to do,
If i'm in love with you,

Should i give up,
Or should i just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere,
Or would it be a waste?
Even If i knew my place should i leave it there?
Should i give up,
Or should i just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere

I'd build myself up,
And fly around in circles,
Wait then as my heart drops,
and my back begins to tingle
finally could this be it

Should i give up,
Or should i just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere,
Or would it be a waste?
Even If i knew my place should i leave it there?
Should i give up,
Or should i just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere

Should i give up,
Or should i just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere,
Or would it be a waste?
Even If i knew my place should i leave it there?
Should i give up,
Or should i just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere

This is an amazing song, I think its about how she loves someone, and wants to tell them ("If i tell the world,
I'll never say enough,
Cause it was not said to you,
And thats exactly what i need to do,") but he doesnt like her back and she doesnt know whether to give up, or to keep trying even if shes not very hopeful and doesnt think it will happen ("Or should i just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere,")

Well thats my opinion anyway haha, I'm probably wrong :P

I think that this song is about loving someone so much but you are too scared to tell them, in fear of rejection.
She seems to be battling with hereself - should you waste the love you feel and just forget about it, find out where you stand or just declare your love?
This is a great song, Adele has such a great voice.

I interpret the "chasing pavements" is that if you notice the music clip, how in reality, the man and the woman have their back turned and lie motionless after the disaster (car crash) but during the chorus when she's referring to chasing pavements, they seem to move towards eachother and seem to be compromising that relationship. There's also the use of shadows as well. Seems to tell a tale of it's own.

To me chasing pavements is metaphorical for going after a dream or a possibilty and holding onto a thought, feeling regardless of how hopeless it may seems. a bit like a wild goose chase.
I agree with the unrequited love idea too.

It's like the car crash symbolises the end of their love or relationship, and the way they are positioned with their backs turned also seem to suggest that.
while "chasing pavements" is where they seem to be moving towards eachother in the dance choreography. Watch the music clip, it'll probably help you understand better than these words I've written. lol.

I wanted to comment on this song before it comes really popular and has like 50 comments :P
i read an interview where she says all her songs are 'pathetic love songs' or something like that.
I think its about her being in love with a guy and not giving up on him even though she knows its not gonna lead anywhere, but she just cant let go.
Such a great song, proper fresh sound makes me happy when i hear it :).

Well, adding to my comment above -
Chasing pavements...
In my opinion the pavements symbolise a journey through life, you walk and walk and walk, visit places, keep on going and going. Pavements never end or conclude and I think that's the way she feels about the person she loves - she'll just keep on walking and walking because she thinks he'll never love her..
Not sure about it, what do you guys think :S

She's not sure whether to continue her neverending journey of unrequited love (Why she doesn't simply go up to him and say she likes him, I DO NOT know).

The video's very cleverly shot, though.

I am kinda confused by this one, especially when you watch the video, but my interpretation is that She has extremely strong emotions, possibly love for somebody but She is reluctant to tell, in case it all comes on crashing down. For example does She want to make or complete a relationship, with the possibility of it all falling to the ground.. I think it also reflects her confusion, as She walking seemingly nowhere, i.e feet chasing after each other with no purpose or direction..Pondering her conundrum. I also think the Shadows are depicted as possibilities of how it could be..I.E. For, Against, Ups, Downs, togetherness & apart.

i've been trying for so long to find a song that says how i feel. she took the words i couldn't express from my mouth and got it down to a tee. it's like she gets my heartache. though it is a sad song, i don't feel sad when i listen to it. in fact, it makes me feel so much better that someone understands. this song is absolutely beautiful.

this song is about her taking too many drugs and shit, so she starts falling over. hence the 'chasing pavements' and also in the video there's an ambulance, obvs to pick up her drunken self and take her to the hospital. her and her mate amy winehouse wrote it together about their past experiences obvs.
YOU ALL GOT IT WRONG tbhtbh.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the chasing pavements bit aint as romantic as it seems. I'm far too bashful to post the true meaning of that term but look it up in urbandictionary.com and you'll see what I mean!!

starryskiesx, I think you hit the nail right on the head with that comment. About pavements never ending and that, seems to fit perfectly to this song (:
thanks for that, I'd been pondering about it for some time and I really like your explanation of 'chasing pavements'

Slang term used for the act of specifically searching for a partner with whom to engage in either rimming, frosting or other scat related activities. The term 'pavements' is used as a euphamism for buttocks.

still sound like a love song? get a life

I TOTALLY agree with starryskiesx===>"I think that this song is about loving someone so much but you are too scared to tell them, in fear of rejection."

One of my tearjerker favorite song...
Why is it so hard to tell my feeling to the one girl i really like so much?

To me, this song is about a split up couple. One of them is pretty sure that he/she is still in love with the other (first verse). That person resolves to try to win back the other's love by telling them that she/he is still in love with them (second verse). Somehow, she/he has an idea that even if she hangs on to this broken relationship and tries to fix things, it won't make much of a difference anymore -- they are broken up and the relationship is over. She/he also knows that "her place" is not with the person, but still, she/he finds her/himself wanting to still try to rectify things even if there's a big possibility that those efforts end up in vain.

This interpretation also matches the video. The video is somewhat like a flashback of what their relationship was before the car crash (the disaster) -- they were happy, they made love, etc. But the girl pushes the guy away for some reason (other man, etc.), which in turn, breaks them up. She tries to win him back, but it "leads nowhere".

The video presents a conclusion to the song. In the end, they're carried of by medics, off to recovery but each in different paths. I think this means that while the girl tried her best to win the guy back, they ultimately, split up in the end.

Whew! That was long!
