Lyrics for Brother Sport as interpreted by Hyperbadox

Brother Sport Lyrics
Open up your, open up your
Open up your throat
And let the all of that time
All of that time, all of that time go

I know it sucks that daddy's gone
But try to think of what you want
You got to open up your
Open up your, open up your
Open up your throat
Matt

Open up your (Open up your)
Open up your throat

Open up your, open up your
Open up your throat
And let the all of that time
All of that time, all of that time go

I know it sucks that daddy's gone
But try to think of what you want
You got to open up your
Open up your, open up your throat
Matt

Support your brother (sports brother)
Support your brother

You got to weigh what he said
To help you shape the way you play
You gotta get rid of the mourning
Sort out the habits of your mind

Until fully grown
You got a real good shot
Won't help to hold inside
Keep it real keep it real shout out

This is really one of the best songs ever...no idea what they're talking about but it just sounds like typical AC. Fun as hell.

Knowing nothing but guessing from the lyrics up here:

Panda Bear, a.k.a. Noah Lennox, has a brother, Matt, maybe nicknamed Sport, who has plenty of artistic potential, and who really ought to open up his, open up his, open up his throat. He's young and talented and has a real good shot at making a name for himself with his music and/or singing or whatever.

Reminds me of a friend or relative egging you on to go up on stage at like an open mike night or something, that like semi-jockular vibe. I mean they Avey-screamed his name, what more encouragement could you need? And then I imagine little Matt looking down at his shoe all "aww shucks you guys" and goes up and makes an album and the world probably benefits since he has the same crazy-Panda-genius blood Panda Bear has.

Anyone know if Noah actually has a brother named Matt?

"open up your throat"
"let that 'oh'/ let the 'oh'/ let them go"
"you gotta wake up in the mornin'/ you gotta have a real good time"
"you've got a real good shot/ you've got so much inside/ let it come right out"

sounds like giving head to me.

It goes along with the themes of Panda Bear's solo work young prayer and the song bros from person pitch.

It says " I know it sucks that daddy is gone" referring to the death of noah's father which led to young prayer. It also says "support your brother", another reference to his dad and his brother is in the song bros. Just like bros, this song is about the new relationship noah and his brother are forming in their new roles without the guidance of their father.

if you listen to the live version, it definitely sounds more like the lyrics posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3KtS5RWkkI although i did also think it was "i know it sucks that daddy's dumb" and "support your brother"... i think it's just really overlapped so it's hard to differ.

"On the resplendent closer, "Brother Sport," Panda consoles his older brother after their father's death, advising him to follow his own voice. As the beat grows increasingly joyous, the song sends a message to family and fans alike: "Open up your throat," sings Panda, and rave on"

Straight from Spin Magazine.

i'm pretty sure its daddy's GONE

which would make sense, because the Lennox family lost their dad a couple years ago.
I dont think panda would talk shit about his dead father.

ALRIGHT,

I've had enough of this shit it's time for a linguistics lesson up in this bitch so listen up bitches: it sounds like "dumb" because when the bilabial of the next word ("but") comes in it closes the open "n" sound which modifies the intended phoneme. It's okay to try this at home kids!

Whether that's intentional on AC's part I don't know but come on, "dumb"? What is this a schoolyard taunt? No this is. Welcome to the big leagues.

Don't try and get the lyrics from a live recording. Watch early videos of "For Reverend Green." They changed by the time the album came out.

"Matt
Open up your throat
Noah's brother
Sport"

What if he's saying "Support your brother?"
It's at a really fast tempo, and it kind of fits.

This album - according to a lot of critics who have given advanced copies to listen to - will be the best of the year. It's so unbelievable that we're hearing this as it'll be a January release.

Also, if any of you are interested in heading to The Metro for the Jan. 22 concert in Chicago, GOOD LUCK. Tickets are being sold on Stub Hub - at it's cheapest - for 250 dollars a piece.

These guys are finally garnering the respect they've deserved since their Sung Tongs brilliance. Granted, they've become a lot more poppy-sounding.

By the way, I'm going to have to agree with Quatzamo's translation diagnosis for this one.

I'm almost certain the last verse is actually

Until you're fully grown
You've got a real good shot
Don't grow too old inside
Keep it real, keep it real, shout out

I could be wrong but I really don't think I am
