    General Comment:I think this is Sharon Shy's Sense of humor seeping through. if you take this song at face value, you're entirely missed the point and should stop listening to The Ropes all together. She loves to play up the dark, depressed outsider image for theatrics, and the very fact that she goes so far past the point of sounding suicidal to warp back and parody itself speaks volumes. The point made in several comments above me about the irony of suffering longer simply because she doesn't want to get dirty in killing herself in quite valid. She uses that for humor, not even being bothered to end her "torment" because it would incur more discomfort anyway.

    General Comment:I feel the need to defend this song a little bit.

    First of all, the narrator of the song (assuming s/he's female) is conveying that she hates living and hates people, but also that she doesn't want to die either, because she imagines she'll experience discomfort although she's dead. Since she's still around, then, she's willing to help other people out with whatever they need even though she feels nothing but contempt for them.

    I always interpret the lyrics as honest (and I mean REALLY honest) self-criticism. This is how the singer really feels, but she recognizes how absurd and seemingly contradictory the feeling is when spelled out.

    General Comment:I feel like it's not the "usual emo-iamnotlikeyou-iamsodeepbysayingiwanttodie-song" just because of the humor in not killing herself because she doesn't want to get dirty. Oh yes, my life is so empty and horrible that I want to die, buuuuuut, I won't, just because I don't want to get dirty.

    And come on? "You can all go fuck yourselves." That just makes me giggle :D

    General Comment:Alright, this is how it goes. Mayyybe someone else can relate. Do you ever have someone come to you alll the time with their problems? someone you dont even know that well? or maybe your best friends. and you dont really give a shit because it has nothing to do with you, but you help anyways. just so they can get over it and shut up.

    that's what this song feels like to me. she's not doing it to be a hero, "'cause i dont like people looking at me."

    oh, and then, she's talking about how she wants to die, but she'll be fine. its like she's the person who takes care of everyone else, and she has no one to take care of her, but she doesn't mind. i dont know.

    General Comment:Building off what ArcadeEdge said, I think the very exaggerated nature of the song is hinting that it is not just one of those songs. It seems to me like the singer doesn't really believe what she's saying, like she's trying to convince herself because it's easier than dealing with whatever is actually going on in her life.
