  General Comment:This song's meaning changes quite a bit depending on which version you listen to. The one from the EP has the confrontation between the Scarecrow (Tobias), the villain-guy (Jørn) and his mentor (Kiske), while the Angel of Babylon incarnation is merely between Tobias and Jørn.
  
  In Angel of Babylon, this seems to serve as the final confrontation between the Scarecrow and his enemy before resolution in Journey to Arcadia. As with the rest of the album, it's very open to personal interpretation and I doubt there is a 'right' answer. It seems that the antagonist poses the question whether or not the scarecrow wants to stay with him, and he seems to have been finally denied, considering Journey to Arcadia.
  
  Meanwhile, in Lost in Space, it simply seems to be Jørn and Kiske's characters vying for control over him. Taking into consideration the rest of the saga, he seems to pick Jørn.

  General Comment:Or for a more realistic view of the song, it is most likely to go with the Scarecrow story to maybe go in between Devil in the belfry and I don't believe in your love, "An army of scarecrows like me
  Thousands of brokens dreams
  Thousands of tragedies
  Tried to run from their destiny"
  
  The Guy eventually in the story goes crazy as what Tobias says in the interview at the back of the booklit from the CD and eventually it seems to take it out on the girl he went after... His hole life he had no one to love and cherish and the one person he finds the just totally gets beaten down by, so he beats back...
  
  
  But I guess you can take the lyrics how ever you like, just realism is nice... Carry Me over wasn't that bad, read the lyrics and listen to the song it really isnt that bad, and lost in space... Well.... I have no clue what the hell is going on there

    I think that this song's placement might have once been considered for the spot between "Carry Me Over" and "What Kind of Love", BUT now that this song has been featured as the 10th track on Angel of Babylon (the precursor to the final song of the trilogy), I think it changes any meaning that this song has ever once held.

  General Comment:This song it's beautiful, powerful, and awesome; I still don't know why this didn't make it to the album and crap like Lost in Space and Carry Me Over did.
  
  The lyrics are about losing your faith in god, life, humanity, and trying to find a meaning for your life in unconventional places. I relate to these lyrics in so many ways, especially in this line:
  
  "God gave his word, just to let us down. Where is he now?"
