Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away
Everything that you've always dreamed of
Close enough for you to taste
But you just can't touch

You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting

[Chorus]
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

You believe and you doubt
You're confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew

You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting

[Chorus]

When you can't wait any longer
But there's no end in sight
when you need to find the strength
It's the faith that makes you stronger
The only way you get there
Is one step at a time

[Chorus: x2]

My Interpretation:I really admire what you hve done for yourself hfaith209 thats really inspiring itself. I am actually a senior in high school right now and singing is my passion i loe so very dearly and yes i am a very good singer but I am actually singing for my graduation coming up and this is the exact song that I am singing for it because it deos send a message to everyone that you cant jump from one thing to another and come back, you have to take it slowly before pushing yourself to where you cant get out but i thought this song would be really inspiring for all of the seniors that are graduating. I have always loved jordin spark and her songs.

My Opinion:I'm not a big Jordan Sparks fan but I love this song, I can relate to it, this is what I most relate to:

    "Hurry up.. and wait.
So close, but so far awy
Everything that you always dreamed of....
close enough for you to taste
    but you just can't touch."

    "You believe, and you doubt..
You're confused, you got it all figured out...
Everything that you always wished for
oh, could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
    if they only knew."

"When you can't wait any longer..
    but there's no ????? inside
(when you need to find the strength)
it's your faith that makes you stronger
the only way to get there,
is one step at a time"

General Comment:As a single mom for many years, I can feel this song deep within my heart. I had my son at the age of 17 while still in high school. I was at the end of my junior year when I had him. I pushed myself through unforseen circumstances, and as a single mom, worked the summer after being tutored for the last part of my junior year. Then, I was a single mom my whole senior of high school, but I DID it, graduating 10th in my class.

I worked through the summers, and after high school, got myself into college. The road traveled was never easy - and there were lots of bumps along the way, but my strength came from God. My faith in God gave me comfort, hope, peace, and strength that I could not have gotten anywhere else.

I was in a bad situation in the year 2000, my junior year of college. I conceived my baby girl who is now 8 years old today. She is a gift from God to me and a blessing that reminds me that even through my own choices, my own mistakes, there are consequences - but God is still good, stands by us, loves us, and has mercy on us. I love her so very much.

I graduated again, now from college, now with 2 small children. My son was 4, my daughter was just a baby.

I put myself through college as a single mom, and went through student teaching. I am now currently in my 6th year of teaching and just recently (last year) got my masters in teaching. My husband and I (Yes, I got married in 2004) own a house and have 4 beautiful children together.

Life has never been easy, and again, there have been many bumps along the way. BUT, God is good, and putting my faith in Him, has reminded me that I can do ALL things through Him who strengthens me...ONE STEP AT A TIME.

God bless you all and always remember to thank God for people He puts into your life, whether they are friends, family, or people that have the gift of a good word - in a book or in music!!! Thanks, Jordan Sparks :o) May God bless you...

General Comment:I first heard this song in my car. For some reason they dub in some rhythmic shaking/thumping sounds in this song at times and it sounds like my wheel hit a pothole. I keep getting nervous about my car when I hear this song, even though by now I know it's just the song.

I know that has nothing to do with the meaning of this song, but I think the meaning is quite positive and straightforward and doesn't really need any analysis.

General Comment:hi guys my fav part of this song is when it says
    "You wanna show the world
but no one knows your name yet.
    You wonder when and where,
and how you're gonna make it.
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face, and the door keeps slammin.
Now you're feeling more and more frusterated
and you're gettin all kind of impatient
    waiting......we live and we learn"
i luv how it goes faster than everything else in the song. i think thids song means (just taking a wild guess) about someone or a boy going to fast for her and wants them to slow down.
