Lyrics for From Where You Are as interpreted by fallacyofdualism

From Where You Are Lyrics
So far away from where you are
These miles have torn us worlds apart
And I miss you, yeah I miss you

So far away from where you are
I'm standing underneath the stars
And I wish you were here

I miss the years that were erased
I miss the way the sunshine would light up your face
I miss all the little things
I never thought that they'd mean everything to me
Yeah I miss you
And I wish you were here

I feel the beating of your heart
I see the shadows of your face
Just know that wherever you are
Yeah I miss you
And I wish you were here

I miss the years that were erased
I miss the way the sunshine would light up your face
I miss all the little things
I never thought that they'd mean everything to me
Yeah I miss you
And I wish you were here

So far away from where you are
These miles have torn us worlds apart
And I miss you, yeah I miss you
And I wish you were here

Maybe about someone that had died. Or a lover that has moved away.

This song was used in the Allstate insurance commercials promoting safe teen driving. Their goal is preventing teen casualties due to negligence or drunk driving.

This song hits really close to home with me, as it probably does with alot of people. I recently had to move away, and im in high school. I moved away from friends and people i considered family, people that i grew up with.

To me its about moving, missing somebody you love, it doesnt necessarily have to be about a girlfriend/boyfriend, it could be a best friend, anybody.

this song is amazing, gets me everytime

Yeah, Gunnman, it hits me pretty hard as well. And that sucks about moving from your friends dude, I've been there. But here is why this song hits me.

Some of my closest friends have died. Over the course 2 years one died every 2 or 3 months. I consider my grandfather as a best friend and aunt also. So really 6 friends and 2 family members. But, this song pretty much puts the head on the nail of how I feel, and I'm pretty sure people who have been through similar things feel.

But in all reality they wrote this in a way that it could mean basically anything. It will vary from person to person, but to me....it just means that somebody is gone..and you know they can't come back no matter how bad you want them to.

This is a really great songs. It meaning is pretty obvious. It is about someone who has died and the person they left behind misses them.

I think the line "I miss all the little things, I never thought that they'd mean everything to me" is the most powerful and true line I have ever heard in a song. For the most part, what we miss about someone we have lost is not the big things, but rather all the little things that are no longer there and leave us feeling empty.

What makes this song great is how simple the meaning is, and how most everyone can relate one way or another to this song.

I can relate to alot of Lifehouse songs, especially this one. I'm going through a long-distance relationship. We've been together for over a year, and it's always been a long-distance relationship, but it's just getting harder and harder to be away from him. I see him every weekend but it's just not the same. Having to leave him to come back home is the hardest part.

This song is about life changing events in a person's life, Wheather it be in general or through death, Technically its about death and missing that person, but this song for me a strong meaning about how things have changed from growing up to the way I have become these days.. I miss all of the little things that have come to mean the most, And just thinking about Summer nights under the stars with that special someone, Man this song has really been able to make me reflect on little special moments that I have experienced.. Lifehouse is a powerful band, This is another one of the songs that has made me think..

By the way, The All-State commercial is so sad :(

When I hear this song, I think of my parents. I lost them when I was younger. This song hits home.

"So far away from where you are
These miles have torn us worlds apart
And I miss you, yeah I miss you"
-We are worlds apart...

"I'm standing underneath the stars
And I wish you were here"
-I'm in love with the stars. My dad bought my first telescope. He showed me where the big and little dippers were. Every time I look up at the night sky, I think of him and my big red telescope.

"I miss the years that were erased"
-I wish I would have had more years to share with them

"I miss the way the sunshine would light up your face"
-We always made impromptu trips to the beach. My parents loved it with a passion. My mom loved to fish. She always came back with a cooler of fish, and I always came back with a sunburn.

"I miss all the little things"
-...like laying on my mom's lap watching tv or playing Frisbee outside with my dad

"I never thought that they'd mean everything to me"
-You don't know what you have until it's gone

"Yeah I miss you
And I wish you were here"
-Understatement of the year

"i miss all the little things, i never thought they'd mean everything to me."

i lost my boyfriend 3 months ago to a car accident, i still haven't been able to move on, or even just be happy. im afraid to live my life without him, being happy just doesnt seem right without him. my smile doesnt come as often, and my laughters less frequent,

and this song explains it perfectly.

In the new Allstate commercial, before they play the song on the radio, they have a clip of the singer telling what it's about. When he was younger, he lost a friend to a driving accident, and is now doing whatever he can to help.

I really love songs like this. Really really reallyreallyreally. It doesn't have one sole, textbook meaning. It was written with a purpose of course, but the listener can easily apply it to their own life, which is what people really like doing. The ultimate simplistic message of this song is really unique... if that made any sense.

My boyfriend isn't really in a stable living situation at the moment and he's not sure if he's gonna be moving out of state or not. He showed me a song called Here Without You by Three Doors Down [if you like From Where You Are, you'll like this one too] and he said he'd sing it to me every day that he was gone. I could probably sing this one back to him.

to me, this song is about my best guy friend that i recently lost in a really bad fight (like most music lately... grrr). we tried to be just friends and that didnt work, and trying to be together didnt work either. it tore me up like you cant imagine. this says a lot about it to me:

So far away from where you are

[we live kinda far away from each other, but we used to make time to visit...]

These miles have torn us worlds apart

[now we're not just far physically, but in every other way. we're on completely different levels emotionally in our lives and we havent spoken more than a few sentences in 2 months. we clash like purple and orange and wouldnt even know how to begin relating to each other in any way even though we see each other all the time, almost like we don't even speak the same language. if we spoke, that is. but we avoid eye contact and its like when we pass by each other this huge black hole opens up for a second in that location. nothing can cross it.]

And I miss you, yeah I miss you

[im learning to live with it, but it still kills me inside. we were closer than ive ever been to someone of the opposite sex before. i just wanna scream I MISS YOU, or whisper, whichever is more powerful. because after this tear i know ill never be the same again. without knowing him, im not fully myself. i dont even know why we argued.]

This song really goes with what's happening around me.

For me it's moving away from my old home, for which I lived there almost my whole life. My new one isn't really far from my old one. As like with the song 'These miles have torn us apart.' I don't see my friends much anymore, but we still keep in touch on the web. Except for some that we barely keep in touch anymore.

'I miss the years that were erased.' That line is starting to come true. It's been one year since I've moved, and so the years would go by, the years I wasn't with them.

This is one of those songs that has a really universal meaning. If you can't apply it to your life in some way, then I can only assume that you aren't human.

I'm off to university in the very near future, and even though it's only a couple hours away from home, I still won't have my family and old friends. And after university I have plans to teach English in Japan, thus I'll be thousands of miles away, not just a couple hundred ("These miles have torn us worlds apart"). This song definitely hits home for me in a big way.

"I miss all the little things
I never thought that they'd mean everything to me"

That line just kills me. It's almost strange how you never notice all the things you have with the people you love until you don't have them anymore. That's when you really start to reminisce and feel absolutely lost in the world; everything has lost its purpose.
I can't listen to this song without shedding quite a few tears, and I'm pretty sure it will always have that effect on me.

The most beautiful part about this song, is that it can apply to everyone. We've all been hurt, and this song doesn't just apply to one particular thing. For me, it is about losing someone through death. Reminiscing about the little things that meant more than they ever thought they could, even something as little as the sunshine falling on someone's face. You know when you can just be standing under the stars, and you close your eyes, and you feel someone's heart beat, hear there laughter, and you just wish that they were standing right beside you; this song portrays that for me. Whether they passed away, or there was a horrable break up, or someone close to you just moved away. All those years and times spent together have been erased, there's no way to get them back; you can not undo what has been done in the past, you can only remember. No matter what anyone is going through you can listen to this song and always be moved. There is always someone in your life you will miss. It's such a beautiful tragedy, the video is really sad to.

They dedicated this song to the teens that lost their lives in car accidents and to the friends and family members. Aah. It hits so close to home. This past summer, I had two really close friends die in car accidents within a span of a month of eachother. I'm so thankful there is a band like this, writing songs like these.

of course everyone has their own view on songs like this one that could have multiple meanings. but for me this reminds me of my ex boyfriend, whom i love with all of my heart -and always will.

I miss the years that were erased
I miss the way the sunshine would light up your face
I miss all the little things
I never thought that they'd mean everything to me
Yeah I miss you
And I wish you were here

me and him started out as just friends, grew into best friends, then we eventually realized that we were supposed to be togehter. we know everything about each other inside and out. he had been my comfort zone for years. and those years we've spent together might as well be erased; it's like we don't even know each other anymore. now all the little things that i remember, i really "never thought that they'd mean everything to me". plain and simple, i miss him.
