The road I walk is paved in gold
To glorify my platinum soul
I'll buy my way to talk to God
So he can live with what I'm not.

The selfish blood runs through my vains
I gave up everything for fame
I am the life that you adore
I feed the rich and fuck the poor.

I got, you want
It's just, don't stop
I got, you want
It's just, don't stop.

This is entertainment
Lives are entertainment
You are down on your knees
Begging me for more.

The road I walk is paved in gold
To glorify my platinum soul
I am the closest thing to God
So worship me and never stop.

The wretched blood runs through my vains
I gave up everything for fame
I am the life that you adore
Now feed the rich, fuck the poor.

I got, you want
It's just, don't stop
I got, you want
It's just, don't stop.

This is entertainment
Lives are entertainment
You are down on your knees
Begging me for more.

Dear future,
I bought you,
I own the rights

To let go
Destroy you
This is my life.

Dear future,
I bought you
I own the rights,

To let go
Destroy you
This is my life....inside.....

I've got, you want
This is, don't stop
I've got, you want
It just, don't stop.

This is entertainment
Lives are entertainment
You are down on your knees
Begging me for more.
(Begging me for more)
Begging me for more.

(I've got, you want
It's just, don't stop)

General Comment:This song means that this guy (I don't know if its the singer or not) thinks money can buy anything, his way to god, or he is god, or buying the future. He is also very concieted and full of himself, the road he walks is paved in gold, and his platinum soul. Roads in gold could discribe heaven. He also would let down anyone, "I gave up everything for fame" meaning he dumped on everyone to be famous.

General Comment:(I am going to ramble.)
I personally believe that this song is inspired by Atheism -- aimed at Jesus. Now I know some people are reading this and are like: "Why does everything have to be about god?" I agree. I love this song and I myself am Atheist, which gives me all the more reason to say it IS about Jesus. Now let me explain why -- Near the beginning, the song starts off with "The path I walk, is paved in gold, to glorify my platinum soul." This sentence could say that Jesus himself was a man of greatness and the way in which he went was perfect. The next line goes "I am the closest thing to God, so worship me and never stop." From my knowledge, I understand that Jesus was a very holy man and indeed was the son of god, hence his abilities to cure the sick, and so on; "worship me and never stop" could say that Jesus was in fact, so holy, that you needed to worship him. This could sum up to greed, selfishness, and so on. Going back to the beginning "I gave up everything for fame." Could go back to when he was crucified. "This is entertainment, LIES are entertainment (correction) You are down on your knees, begging me for more." This could possibly symbolize the faith some have in him, and how he entertains himself from it. That although you lie and are punished for it in his entertainment, you get on your knees (praying) and beg for more. The last couple of meaningful lines are in "I am the life that you adore, I (correction) feed the rich and fuck the poor" This could possibly mean that many people LOVE Jesus, and despite the evil, you keep loving him. He feeds the rich, and fucks (forgets, punishes) the poor. In a nutshell, in my opinion of course, this song goes to say that Jesus is a self-serving man.

Song Meaning:On an obvious level this song shows celebrity worship and narcissism, and how it's really getting out of hand. If you look deeper though, you might be able to see the connection between the system, "the man" (i.e) Neo-Conservatives, and how they ruthlessly cut off benefits for the poor, support corporate greed and lie and cheat people into giving them power. And the lyric "the road I walk is paved in gold to glorify my platinum soul" was actually originally written as "the road I walk is paved in cold to glorify my platinum soul". Also it shows how these people are in a way, turning into "Big Brother" in George Orwell's book 1984. In 1984 there are three main socio-economic classes, the Inner party (which makes up only 2% of the population), the outer party, and the Proles (underclass). The Inner party is very greedy and feels they need to protect their wealth, so they rely on hoaxing everyone to work for them as slaves (conceptually). That's where Innerpartysystem gets their name "Innerparty" and then "system".

General Comment:It almost seems like an attack on stars that thrive on popularity and being noticed...people who fool others for their own selfish gain. You know, egotistical pricks.

General Comment:I get the feeling this isnt how the actual band feels... theyre not even that big yet (YET)

I think this is like a mockery of how ridiculous the celebrity world and the media is.

(just my opinion, could be wrong)

Song Meaning:I just heard on the radio (Denver Colorado's channel 93.3) that they came up with the idea for the song one day when they were all bitching about reality TV and the celebrity craze. The singer said that the media coverage of Anna Nicole Smith's death particularly annoyed the crap out of him, since it was on every news channel for weeks on end.
