i have a daughter named Alex who just turned 5. i havn't always been there as a father, in fact wasn't even living with her mother when she was born. i love her dearly. it's m greatest fear that the mistakes i made years ago, will affect and affected her in an adverse way. (of course i can hear the lyrics where the writer professess his love, but this is an interpretation right?)
it gives me hope, that she can still see the good in me, and that she saw i was imperfect and struggled in those years, yet she still sees the love i feel unconditionally for her. i know it will never be easy for us....after all i am a dad and she is a beautiful girl just sprinting towards being a teenager. geez, hurts even to say it. but i pray one day that she will say to me that she loves me, and that, no matter what, she knows i always will do the absolute best i can for her.
to me, its kind of like he's in a situation where he met this great girl who fell head over heels for him. however, for the longest time he was so hesitant to get in too deep with her, possibly because of complications in his own life...but she was so damn persistent and he's finally realizing how much he loves her and that he wants it to work.
this song makes me want to find true love, bad.
this song has a special place in my heart, right alongside my love/best friend.
