Lyrics for Have at Thee! as interpreted by sheslikeohsoemo

Have at Thee! Lyrics
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ I've been dreaming on
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ
God damn you

She'll never let me down again
So I'll go out and get crunked with my friends
My only brand of medicine
And defecate on the lawns of the Barbies and Kens

She made me want to take a blade to my skin
And tear out the machine she installed from within
I'll blow her love away

She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ I've been dreaming on
Drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ
God damn you
Out of my mind, out of my brain
Have at thee empty god I've been leaning on
Drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at me, I'm free

So many females to undress
We roll in as a pack, we will roam and regress
So many standards to suppress,
Do any drug that they recommend or suggest
She was my own false deity,
Seduced by a priest, she was out to destroy me
I'll drink her love away

She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ I've been dreaming on
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ
God damn you
Out of my mind, out of my brain
Have at thee, empty god I've been leaning on
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, I'm free

She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ I've been dreaming on
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ
God damn you
Out of my mind, out of my brain
Have at thee, empty god I've been leaning on
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ
God damn you

I think it's about how after you get out of a relationship sometimes you can't stand that person anymore - "She made me want to take the blade to my skin." She can't let him down again because they aren't together anymore. It also seems like he's talking about how superficial she is and how she'll do whatever is "cool" or whatever. She's a "false christ" or "false god" because either
a. he looked at her as this amazing person and she turned out to be completely material and conceited
or b. she looks at herself as amazing, making her a flase christ/god
There's probably a deeper meaning but this is just what it seems to be about when you just listen to the song or read the lyrics.

it could be as you were saying.
when your with someone and you want to get away.
but it could also be that he is broken up.
and just wants to get back into life.
and wants to foget about her.
but i dont know.

is this album a concept album?
i really think so.

I found out yesterday that my girlfriend was cheating on me, while having unprotected sex on a beach with some high school kid and then went away to college with the threat of having his baby.

I can't tell you how much this song means to me as I Scream the lyrics that reflect whats going on in my life.

It is definitively about a bad breakup and I can relate.

I think he lifted this girl up to the point that she became a god to him and then he found out she was only human and she did something to hurt him so now he's being destructive to himself in order to forget her.
great song!

I feel like Max has just fought with his ex for the first time after they've had sex and he's beating himself up because now that he has a clear head he doesn't want to go right back down the same path he just escaped from. So he goes out with his friends to find new girls, but can't stop thinking about his ex. The next morning is the hangover song

In this song Max becomes everything he hated about his ex. He is superficial and more concerned with going to clubs and meeting random girls, then having a meaningful relationship. He will soon understand why his ex acted that way. And he's starting to forgive her.

This song has nothing to do about an ex or a girl at all! It's about Max's experience before he was diagnosed with bi-polar. At this time he lived a completely amoral lifestyle. He did lots of drugs ("I'll Blow her love away"), slept around alot ("So many females to undress"), and most important to the song, he stopped believing in God ("Have at thee false Christ", "To the empty God ive been leaning on", "God, damn you") It's pretty blatant. Sorry, but i just dont see how this can be about an ex.

illkickyouinthenuts, i think this song can pretty obviously be about an ex, or at least about a girl, considering he yells "SHE drives me insane" a bunch of times in the song, and lines like "she'll never let me down again." i suppose it could be a metaphorical "she," but i don't know what that would represent. and i also don't see why a song about his previous "amoral lifestyle" (if you must refer to it that way) can't also include references to a poisonous ex girlfriend. they're not mutually exclusive.

I could kind of relate to this song in my own way.

I think the whole "Have at thee, false christ! I've been dreaming on" is maybe that he's mad ad God for not making things work out with him and this girl, and that he's just been dreaming for it to happen.

That's the only real thing that I think could be hard to interpret in the song. Apart from that I think it's just frustration through not getting the girl, then the typical "Fuck her, I don't need her" of "I'll blow her love away"

"I'll go out and get crunk with my friends" is pretty much just to get drunk and forget about it, obviouslty

Definately my favourite song on the album...

My guess would be that hes just come out of a break up with a girl he completly idolised and hes trying to console himself because part of him wants her back more than anything. Max says that now he can go out and drunk with his friends and that she can never let him down again which is great but he also says its his "only medicine" he has which shows that he isn't quite as satisfied as he's making out that he is... And now hes going to go and defecate on the lawns of the barbies and kens - hes feeling very bitter about happy perfect couples when he himself is hurting this badly so hes going to vent his anger.

He just can't forget about her, its almost as if shes installed some kind of controlling machinery under his skin [to get beneath someones skin] because the pull is so strong and so misplaced this is the only explanation that max can find for it. Hes putting a brave face on it, telling himself hes free from her control that stops him getting drunk and doing what he likes, but even with her completely gone she still "drives him insane" all the time and he can't escape that.

I agree with suchaxsucker sounds to me like he met a girl and thought she was the most amazing thing ever and told him all this shit and then he figured out that she was just pretending and she was a fake and during the period of time he passes up so many other girls.

This song sounds to me like the guy was with a girl and he loved and idolized her so much that it could be interpreted as the way someone loves God. Therefore, when the relationship ends he's very hurt so he's sent into denial and saying all these nasty things to make it seem like it's her fault. He's twisting the logic making it seem like he's "happy" that she's gone, like he's saying "good riddance". This explains the "False Christ" line, he's saying "Screw you! I idolized you like a God, but you turned out to be evil (like a false God) and you left, so now I'm so upset I'm reversing the logic and my pride is making me think I'm happy you're gone because I'm angry."

After that part he's basically talking about going out and losing all inhibitions and being a jerk to any and everyone who seems to have a "perfect" life that he's now jealous of.

i definitely think that this song has to do with a bad breakup.
i think that maybe the girl in the song cheated on him & it ended up destroying him.
"seduced by a preist she was out to destroy me"

i agree with the "false christ" being her, but i dont think she was meant to try and look "cool"
with the whole " do any drug " part. i think that was his way of coping with the breakup.
he wants to forget about her so bad that he'll do whatever is needed to do so.

thats my take.
