It's another night in Hell
Another child born live to tell
Can you imagine what it's like to starve to death?
And as we sit free and well
Another soldier has to yell
"Tell my wife and children I love them" in his last breath
Come on now, amen
Amen
Habitual offenders, scumbag lawyers with agendas
I tell you sometimes people, I don't know what's worse
Natural disasters or these wolves in sheep clothe pastors
Now Goddamnit I'm scared to send my children to church
And how can we seek salvation when our nation's race relations
Got me feeling guilty of being white
Put faith in human nature, our creator and our savior
I'm no saint but I believe in what is right
Come on now, amen
I said amen
Stop pointing fingers and take some blame
Pull your future away from the flame
Open up your mind and start to live
Stop short changing your neighbors
And living off handouts and favors
Maybe give a little bit more than you got to give, got to give
Simplify, testify, identify, rectify
And if I get high, stop being so uptight
It's only human nature, and I am not a stranger
So baby won't you stay with me tonight
(There is a part here where I have no idea at all what he says)
It's a matter of salvation from impatience up above
So don't give up so damn easy on the one you love
Somewhere you got a brother, sister, friend, grandmother, niece or nephew
Just dying to be with you
You know there's someone out there who unconditionally, religiously loves you
So just hold on cause you know it's true
And if you can take the pain
And you can withstand anything
And one day stand hand in hand with the Truth
I say amen
I said amen
I said amen
I said amen
Amen

As it is, I love this song. I know that it's not particularly original in terms of meaning and perhaps lyrics, but I think it's a rather unique way of looking at the world we live in. He's just trying to say the world is fucked up, but we have a lot to love about this world as well. As far as the Christian-ish overtones, I find myself not caring particularly. We all believe what we believe. Maybe some of you think it's bullshit (something along the lines of "We all believe what we believe, but it's fucking stupid to believe in invisible super heroes and give them names like 'God' and 'Jesus'!"), but you gotta remember it's a free country. At least, where I'm sitting, it is.
i am a Christian and i love kid rock. i don't like the fact that he says G.D. but the truth is that he is a human and humans have different sorts of emotions. what i like about kid rock is that he says what he feels no matter what it is, no matter what. and i can honestly relate to this entire song. everything in this song is true to him. he's not being hypocritical or a "poser". he's speaking truth. no matter what it is or what it relates to! as a Christian even, you can one second not be sure of what God is doing in your life and be frustrated about it and the next praise God, because he is true. this song is just true life. i love kid rocks newer stuff too. his music has seemed to get a lot more serious lately and thats cool.
Got me feeling guilty of being white"
I shouldnt feel guilty for shit. Some of our ancestors also fought to FREE the slaves, so this condescending attitude towards white people like we owe something is bullshit.
Also, I love Kid Rock, but I don't like his religious songs, because I think the Judeo-Christian God is just as real as Allah, Zeus or the Flying Spaghetti Monster and he, like many "Christians" probably would not believe it so hard if he grew up in a nation with a different dominant religion. Which is why I'm tired of having "Jesus" shoved down my throat by people falsely claiming to be more "righteous" or "moral" than me.
I don't like it.
