Maybe we believe
She was ready to go
In the morning light
Maybe you believe
That she was made of gold
In the east where you killed her
You lead us
When you need to feed us
You comfortably delete us
When you need your fetus,
You cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out and,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out,
Goodbye, goodbye,
She speaks unrehearsed
Languages from skin
In the morning light
Painting shadows on the
faces of the dead
In front of their windows,
You cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out and,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Before its too late,
Do you know that life is ending,
As we go, the dots connecting,
We had our chance to save the garden,
As it dies, our souls will harden,
With these words chastising your conscience
Were breaking through and praying for transcendence.
But you deceived us all now,
You cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out and,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out and,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out.
She was ready to go
In the morning light
Maybe you believe
That she was made of gold
In the east where you killed her
You lead us
When you need to feed us
You comfortably delete us
When you need your fetus,
You cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out and,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out,
Goodbye, goodbye,
She speaks unrehearsed
Languages from skin
In the morning light
Painting shadows on the
faces of the dead
In front of their windows,
You cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out and,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Before its too late,
Do you know that life is ending,
As we go, the dots connecting,
We had our chance to save the garden,
As it dies, our souls will harden,
With these words chastising your conscience
Were breaking through and praying for transcendence.
But you deceived us all now,
You cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out and,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out and,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out.

She was ready to go,
In the morning light,
Maybe you believe,
That she was made of gold,
In the East where you killed her..."
I think it means that we thought that we, being America thought that George Bush needed to leave as a president and that in the morning when people woke up they saw that he was reelected in 2004 and the East being the eastern stated mostly republican states voted him in and killed the country.
When the song says
"You cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out and,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out...."
It is talking about all the lies that Bush gave us as a country and how he totally ruined America with the war. and the Stars look out is all the dead American soldiers wanting to just eat Bush and they want to be feeded.
then when it says
"She speaks unrehearsed,
Languages from skin,
In the morning light,
Painting shadows on the,
Faces of the dead,
In front of their windows..."
It is talking about bush trying to talk to iraqi people and trying to make peace but really they hate him and throw shoes at him.
Overall the song is about George Bush screwing us over.
second, wow!!! you are so right. i never saw it that way, and i know about the armenian genocide!!! i feel stupid.
but what i really loved is how everyone see it in his own way. for me, being a lebanese living in the middel east, i saw it as he was talking about the people in the middel east who are dying because of usa (and israel). and when he said "maybe we beleive she was ready to go", i though of it as people who dont think as human, who think that people (and specially women who are moms and who are dying, even if they are not fighting) who are dying, are just not human and they dont mind them being dad. i know its doesnt really make sense but that's how it made me feel.
"maybe you beleive she was made of gold" it means that they think that these women will make them rich, but actually they have nothing to do with everything.
and they feed us with the lies, as how usa try to convince us and our goverments that they want our best and they want world peace, but actually they surprise us and delete us when they want their fetus, as when they get what they wanted, what they gace birth to (the new middle east, as condy said :P).
and so on... i know, when you think about it sounds wrong, but that how the song made me feel.
but now i see that its all about armenia. and btw, as a lebanese, i see many armenians who still until today talk their langages, name armenian names, and they haven forgot about the genocide....
Guys, we need to start over and redefine the word of each song pertaining to this meaning. Many people brutally murdered, and plenty of idiots out there like myself who has no idea what happened. Personally, I think we owe the least we can pay by at least reading up on it's history.
I heard Serj put this on the back of his album, and if this is true, it is what we should be looking at.

Being an Armenian-American like serj, i have heard many stories about it from my relatives who's fathers and mothers were survivors.
1915- Soviet union had control over the country now know as Armenia. Armenians fled to countries such as Lebanon and Turkey to get away from the communism. Turkey didn't want Armenians in their population, so they conducted a brutal genocide of over 1.5 million armenians.
Maybe we believe,
She was ready to go,
In the morning light,
Maybe you believe,
That she was made of gold,
In the East where you killed her...
-Turkey is east of Armenia
-Many people were beheaded (made of gold, gold would flow out, basicly just saying that they thought they had justified reasons to kill the armenians)
You lead us,
When you need to feed us,
You comfortable delete us,
When you need your fetus...
-Turkish troops led large groups of Armenians into the wilderness telling them they were going to go somewhere. They stranded them while they starved, killing them. The Ottoman Turks even cut open pregnant women and pulled the baby out... hence "When you need your fetus".
You cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out and,
Cheat us when you feed us with the lie,
Stars look out....
-They fed them with the lie of going somewhere, the wilderness has stars looking out.
She speaks unrehearsed,
Languages from skin,
In the morning light,
Painting shadows on the,
Faces of the dead,
In front of their windows...
-Not sure about this line. But i think faces of the dead might have been the blood shatter, and "she" may have been a witness to the brutality that was done upon her family.
Do you know that life is ending,
As we go, the dots connecting,
We had our chance to save the garden,
As it dies, our souls will harden,
With these words chastising your conscience,
We're breaking through and praying for transcendence...
-After being dragged for days, starving, Armenians connected the "dots" and realized that they were going to die. Armenia was a christian country so they prayed to their god for "transcendence into heaven upon death"
-Armenia is one of several thought-to-be possible locations of the Garden of Eden.
