Lyrics for About Falling as interpreted by i am parker lewis

About Falling Lyrics
the tide rolls by and i wonder why i felt inclined to try
my starry eyes were sacrificed
the sea divides but i dont want to get lost in the ocean now
and as our single climbs the charts
i feed on their virgin blood from their bleeding hearts
with my pants around my ankles, i play my part
ive built the ark but i dont want to get lost in the ocean
earth starts spinning around to the motion of
that i dont really even care if im alone now
and i dont really give a damn about falling in love
body burdened by my heavy heart of stone now
and i dont really even care if im alone now
their flesh is sustenance; i cackle as I prey upon the weak and poor
i have no feeling and this prison is a home
i have no heart, i sold my soul
and i dont really even care if youre listening
why wont you wait for me?
why arent you waiting for me?
never again

These lyrics are definitely some of the most Alkaline Trio-ish of all of Say Anything's lyrics. Awesome song.

and i think it's clear how this song is 'about falling' out of love

after max dumps shiska and he's like 'well i dont really care about love anyway' in spite

and at the end shiska wants him back (i think), sounds nothing like 'never again' it sounds more like 'live with it' but i just looked at the lyrics book at that seems right

This is my fav.Song on the album by far.

I like Matt's bit. I think its nessicary because there is 27 songs on the album so you have to make them feel diffrent some how.

It's such a good song to sing when you have just been let down by a girl or whatever.

It's good.

I think this is about the stage after a break up when you sort of just say 'fuck it', and give up the whole love and relationship thing, and try to convince yourself that it's not worth it anymore. But I think at the same time he's still bitter about the whole thing, and he's still upset; i.e the 'why won't you wait for me?' part. Amazing song though. :] One of their best.

The acoustic version of this song on youtube is amazing, btw. :] Ha, and for those who hate Matt Skiba's part, his part's not on it, so you'll probably enjoy it ha. (:

this is probably my favorite song on the album. Max has given up on his girlfriend for now. He's gotten his shit together and he's almost disturbed by how well his life is going by himself. He is scared to admit what it might mean, but...he doesn't really even care if he's alone now.

i don’t really even care if i’m alone now
and i don’t really give a damn about falling in love
body burdened by my heavy heart of stone now
and i don’t really even care if i’m alone now

Water is a common emotional symbol and Max parallels his last relationship with Noah's Ark. An out of control storm that destroyed his world. He has no desire to dive back in the water after that.

I think there's a complimentary meaning here, talking about signing to J records. The idea of consciously "selling out", and what's going on in Max's head.

i don't really know about this being a whole story line about "shiksa" and whatnot, but yeah i'm pretty sure the song's about max not really caring about having someone there and being emotionally attached to them and i think his past events really helped shape the song.

shiksa isn't a name. It means girlfriend just so you all know.

also to bash the flesh: selling out isn't signing to a major label. Thats stupid to think its that way because every band does it. Selling out is changing your music just to get popular etc.

and to the dude who said matt skiba cant fuck anything up he sings on, Im gonna throw a word out to you. OPINION. i think hes a horrible singer tbh so deal with it

This makes me think of me now and how when you're 18 love isn't exactly the most important thing... just have fun, love is a big step toward growing up

I love at the end when its the breathy female voice singing "why won't you wait for me, why aren't you waiting for me?" and Max busts into it with "NEVER AGAIN!"
Whenever I hear that part, I picture him sitting on the floor of a room, going insane covering his ears and writhing around trying to block out the girl's voice. Idk, that's just how that part seems.

I am sick of ppl talking about sellouts. Just because more ppl begin listening to a band means you can no longer listen to them sounds like you are a mindless drone bee. LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE YOU FUCKING LIKE LIKE IT!!!!! damn. and bands that are good will end up getting big and making money. Its like stupid dumb fuck fans expect musicians to just commit their life to music and never make a dime. Its a job for one thing. What is a band supposed to do just spend all the money they have on recording shit and buying equipt just to write you a fucking lullybye for free you babys. its a job that really means something. Artists are pouring their heart and souls into music. Just for you to say oh they signed to this record company that means they are sellouts. or they changed their sound some. 1. i think its great that they did something better for theirsleves they are trying to make it in life like the rest of us. 2. You have to grow in life you cant just stay the same forever its not healthy. 3. and if you are a musician yourself you understand how hard it is to get anywhere and you know how much skill certain bands and ppl have.

so in conclusion. (i forgot this) selling out is doing the music everyone else wants you to do. ESPECIALLY record companies. they are just trying to make money off you. you got guys in suits most of the time dont even know what the fuck a guitar solo is.

Haha, Curtneyisasuperher0 i like your visual. And notoriousfat67, I'm pretty sure shiksa means a non Jewish woman. Of course it sucks when our favorite band gets big, but I could never stop listening to them. It's a angry feeling when you know a bunch of kids like them because "ooo yeah cool their songs are so catchy." When all of us are on here picking apart the lyrics and really listening. But, I assure you, Say Anything knows the difference. You can see that Max is just as worried about selling out as we are.
