Lyrics for Church Channel as interpreted by egyptianmusk

Church Channel Lyrics

i wake up in a room and realize i’m insane again
this is the fifth time straight in a year i’ve ended up in here
eating p.b.j’s and watching the church channel nightly
i didn’t mind what i did
i fell behind on my nightly four-course meal of rainbow pills
and now i’m wondering what is fake and what is real
but who’s that ghost who keeps walking by my door
i’ve never seen a girl look so good in thick-rimmed glasses before
and i feel her watching me during sleeping hours
and when i shower
they let us play with markers but i keep trying to draw infinity
and i read the bible to pass the time
but one day out of nowhere, she sits down and looks over my shoulder
i’m shaking harder then i’ve ever shook before.
she sings:
“oh, don’t you remember me? is your mind that worn?
we both were born to be one with that which the public scorned
though you were forlorn in despair with your drugs and your hardcore porn
trust me, those days won’t be mourned. so lay your head on me.”
lay your head onto me.

shiksa doesnt mean girlfriend at all.
its actually a durogatory term for a gentile woman.
he just usually uses it to describe his girlfriends.
the word shiksa itself is just a mean way of talking about a non-jewish woman.

i love this song because there are three different but amazing sections to it. i think by writing the song this way max is portraying his bipolar disability through the music. best off the album!

hayley doesnt sing on woe.
oh, and petit.sam, shiksa actually means the gentile (non-jewish) girlfriend of a jew.

this song is about one of max's stays in a psych ward.
it almost seems like hayley's character could just be in his head during his stay in the institution, in this song.

The lead singer actually did go insane on tour one time and this is based on his experiences. It talks about his being at the mental institute and the confrontation of people after his episodes.

@theshotgunmessage08:

I know Hayley is singing in this song, but I am almost positive she is not singing in Woe.

And I meant the same girl, story wise.

He meets the girl he falls in love with and who helps him out in his time of need. Fairly straightforward, and I like the religious imagery.

Hayley sounds good on this one. I'm a big fan of all the collabo's on this album.

darthfly, hayley williams is on this song and also on "woe". It's about the girl i think represented as an agel and offering him hope in his mental state and how he used to be involved in christianity but he swayed off the path and she is wanting him to come back to God. "So Lay your head on me"

Does nobody realize the HUGE religious implications on this entire album? Listen to what Hayley says. "we both were born to be one with that which the public scorns". This refers to religion - probably Christianity but possibly his own Jewish religion. It seems to me that her character is offering him religious freedom from all the things that were holding him down, especially with the line "you were forlorn in despair... trust me, those days won't be mourned." It's all about a fresh new beginning, though the religious overtones are only hinted at in this song. It's stronger in other songs, and ultimately he stays with his Jewish heritage. He definitely seemed to be struggling with Christianity in the album, but ultimately stayed with Judaism.

shiksa means girlfriend,

i think this song is just about being insane, whether max or a story, and the pills make him hallucinate and bring back a memory of a girl he's deeply infatuated with.

this song confuses me, it's obviously in the story where max is turned into the mental institute and i think hayley plays the part of shiska (the nurse) and its saying how max feels her watching him and she describes how she takes care of him and loves him

I really dislike Paramore, but Hayley Williams's voice is really pretty when she's not singing her own lyrics. I like what they did to her voice too. Favorite song off the album so far.

This is probably my favorite song on the album. I can't help thinking this is the girl from "Woe" everytime I hear it, though thats probably not the case.

he realizes his life is a mess, he's going insane in this world. this girl from his past comes back to him, and he realizes his fears have held him back from being with her before, but when they're together, he feels all his insanity disappear. she's the "nurse" in the song, pulling him out of his former state of despair.

awesome song.
