  My Interpretation:For me this about a woman that is abused by her husband...Mentally,physically and sexually! She is desperate and near to suicide (without any faith,without any light...Can dare me to live,can dare me to lie...Inside I am dead)...
  She is certainly not an ungrateful bitch as I read is some comments and OF COURSE doesn't deserve abusion!
  It says "Go on" cause she knows she can'r escape she is trapped in the situation and just accepts it! The man is probably rich and she is poor with nowhere to go, the may have children together... It says "anything but love" cause she knows he is unable to love her and can only offer her money and suffering! I think this is an awsome sing that pperfectly describes the situation of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE which a nightmare to many women....I think that more songs like that have to be written to raise awareness since this is a significant problem of our days that goes against human right!!! Abused woman should know that there are people who can help them out there and that having children with someone doesn't mean you shouldn't leave him if he is violent! There is hope,there is compassion!

  General Comment:umm you guys have great ideas but i think this song leans more towards the sexual molestation of a young adult probably between the ages of 12-16 because most of us are confused about what love really is in that time of our life. the reason I say this is because my girlfriend went through somthing similar with a member of her family. "you can give me anything but love" could also refer to you can give me pain, sadness, regret, etc. just not love or any side definition of the word. "bound to your side and trapped in silince" is probably a refrence to the fact that shes scared to say anything because "stripped down to my naked core the darkest corners of my mind are yours, thats where you live, thats where you breath" means that hes always there and has made her more than just fear him he may as well be the devil as far as shes concerned "tell me i asked for it tell me ill never forget" isnt what hes saying to her its what she is feeling deep inside because she dosent know why its happening so she wants him to tell her these things "you send me to a broken state where i can take the pain just long enough then i am numb then i just disappear" means that its not just the pain of being raped he probably beats her while hes at it. "ill be the victim youll be the voice in my head" means that he controls everything she does because she knows that if she dosent do as shes told itll be far worse for her later. this entire song describes what my gf went through when these things were happening to her and this song actually helped her through it but she still has nightmares and still cant bring herself to tell anyone but me and i still havent heard evrything. she was 14 and 15 when these things happened to her thats why i put an age group at the top anyone who has delt with this problem or is dealing with this problem it needs to be taken care of. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS KIND OF PAIN EVER!!! if this is happening to you or a friend of yours put a stop to it. i still have to find out who her bf was at the time so i can work him over a few times for being stupid and as soon as i find the guy that did this to her youll hear about it in the news and ill be the next america's most wanted

  General Comment:Yeah, TheCrooner is wrong...Obviously, the woman is going through abuse--I mean, with lyrics like "So go on, infect me/Go on and scare me to death/Tell me I asked for it/Tell me I'll never forget" (or any variation of the chorus throughout the song, really) and "The darkest corners of my mind are yours", it's pretty straight forward.
  
  Anyway, I think the woman in the song is probably being abused sexually ("Bound to your side and
  trapped in silence/Just a possession/Is this sex or only violence/That feeds your obsession?" seems like she's talking about rape), physically ("You send me to a broken state/Where I can take the pain just long enough/Then I am numb/Then I just disappear"), and emotionally ("Some sort of sick satisfaction you get from mindfucking" and "I'll be the victim/You be the voice in my head"). Beautiful song, and very powerful, too.

    I can understand what you're trying to say - that it's from the perspective a bitch that doesn't appreciate everything she's being given, even though it's being given to gain her affection; I admit it would be an interesting interpretation of the song, if the lyrics themselves supported your argument.
    
    However, claiming that someone 'deserves to be raped or abused' is pretty fucked up and misogynistic, no matter how you cut it. Furthermore, saying that a person is 'reveling in their own unhappiness and misfortune' after they've been raped and mentally abused doesn't help your argument, either. Claiming that ANYONE would treat a woman in a similar way if she had used a guy like that is pretty extreme, and ranting about 'whores being in love with what you keep in your pocket' is just icing on your shit-cake interpretation.
    
    As for why everyone thinks you're wrong (and they're right), if the woman was being a whore and just taking his money, he could easily just dump her and be done with the whole relationship. The fact that he rapes her and abuses her, and plays mental games with her to keep her close despite the fact that there obviously isn't any love between them, is what makes him the bad guy.
    
    The "Go on and.." lines aren't an 'invitation'. That's an admission of submission; she can't do anything to stop the situation. I wouldn't exactly call infecting someone's mind and scaring them a 'permission to enjoy her assets', either.

    Lol Crooner said "Curtesy" lol, like curtsy, I think he meant courtesy. I know how that feels though I hate it when people just act like "I'm right you're wrong" instead of respecting that you think you're right. Makes me wanna punch them in the face. And yeah the Crooner's comment did seem pretty fucked up and misogynistic, but I think what he was trying to point out was that was the feeling the song was trying to present, not that it's right.     yea.. Crooner's not *wrong* (their are "bitches" that will do anything for "everything") but this song was clearly written from the prospective of a battered "bitch" who doesn't want it.. or maybe it's just gotten worse- maybe she was fine with being hit every now & than, maybe she didn't consider it rape, BUT she has clearly says she doesn't want the "mindfucking". And now it's too late because he owns the "darkest corners of [her] mind."
    
    And as for the whole thing, do you REALLY think someone can deserve to be raped/abused? I'm not taking about those kinky ho's that tell you to & than renig- Some woman that wanted what you had to offer, but doesn't anymore?     If the song were about a woman who did not appreciate anything, I would agree with Crooner, but it's not.
    
    If you ever see a battered woman, she is most likely in an addictive relationship and is codependent, as you will read/listen to in the song she can not leave no matter how much she wants to. Battered woman will say things like "anything but", because they know what they receive is all they receive. She could appear as a woman settling for anything, but what's really going on is that she has been convinced she can not do better.
    
    It's a painful experience, and unless you have seen it for yourself or experienced it, women like that could appear to be unappreciative when they are really dependent and depressed.
    
    Have you ever tried to appreciate anything while depressed? I have, I can't.

She has some guy just giving her the fucking moon and stars, but that isn't enough for her.   Song Meaning:I am a big Apocalyptica fan, but mostly their instrumental pieces. This is my favorite of their pairings. I feel like the density in her voice gets lost in Lacuna Coil, but is empowering here. It's easy to relate to this song from my standpoint. Someone in a dominant position in a relationship obsessing over possessing her with everything (wealth, pain, status)without giving her l-o-v-e. She knows this, she wants to fight back. Love the video, everything going up in fiery masses with her volatile words. The cold visual tones returning as she retreats. Fabulous ... Save Me ...
