- is referring to the lesbian rumors that have surrounded her since her 2nd album in 2003.
"I know people will try, try to divide, Something so real"
but "Everything's gonna be all right"
- refers to how her love is stronger than all the people that are disapproving, especially toward celebrities, of gay relationships.
The sadness in her voice and the screaming is because she has to hide her love and lie about who she really is... because people keep talking... and try to get in the way of her lifestyle...
I wish she would just come out... she would be so much happier.

i believe its about being okay with someone, being perfectly and irrevocably in love.
her love in this, goes beyond a relationship.

For starters the song begins with the line "I just want you close", meaning they are not physically together. (Probably a long-distance relationship or something)
People keep talking about how long distance relationships are pointless and stupid but Alicia doesn't give a crap. She just wants to be with him no matter what, no matter the distance, no matter what people say, no matter where her significant other is.

The chorus just restates what she said in the verse. No one Can get in the way of what I feel for you... nothing can keep them apart, not even distance. And she is damn sure about it!

I wanna go with number 2, I don't know about you guys. THERE YOU GO! She is thinking about her man and the thought alone will make her feel better even though her heart is hurt. Why is her heart hurt? Loneliness maybe?

---> And yes, that is true. How many people search the world and try being in a long distance relationship but most of them end up badly and someone's heart gets broken. But Alicia's relationship is working just fine and both Alicia and her man trust each other...
She says "Everything's gonna be alright" because the only thing inbetween them is the distance, and ONE DAY they will be able to be physically together. That doesn't mean they can't be TOGETHER though. Love is not about being physically together; it's about hearing two hearts beat as one no matter where.

---> It's not everyday you get to find someone you can be in that type of relationship. But when you do, you actually appreciate that someone and it's more real than ever.
