To all those who have been saying this is about Kurt and Courtney or nirvana ect its NOT!!! It's about two people in a relationship.

Dave explains that in this interview. i think people just need to let it die, and get over this Dave and Kurt thing. People heel and move on.

this is my interpretation of it based on my relationship with a girl that i dated for a year and half and then she dumped me.
"A heart of gold but lost its pride"
The girl used to be like an angel but shes changed and shes not anymore
"Beautiful veins and bloodshot eyes"
Maybe the future that they could have growing old together
"i see your face face in another light"
now that she left him he realizes shes not the same person she was earlier in their relationship
"in too deep and out of time"
maybe the girl felt they were getting too serious and it was time to get out of the relationship.
"interveinous intertwined"
When they were together, the couple was inseperable and "obviously" in love
"A simple man and his blushing bride"
Since the man was "simple" maybe he didnt need much and was just glad to be with the girl cause all he needed was love. However the girl was was "blushing" maybe would be embarresed to be married to him because love insnt enough for her.

The girls hearts gone cold-she doesnt love him anymore. She says her "hands were tied" there was nothing else she could do but leave him. or maybe the guy could do absolutely nothing to stop her.
"Do you ever think of me? your so considerate"
after she left him, all he does is think about her, but she probably never thinks about him anymore and is being completely inconsiderate to his broken heart.

obvioulsy he wasnts answers why she left him and let their relationship die

I personally think it's about Courtney love and Kurt Cobain.

Courtney is veiny and they BOTH have/had bloodshot eyes.

"Did you ever think of me, you're so considerate."
Me is refering to everyone that loved Kurt.

"Hearts gone cold and your hands were tied"
Refering to the fact that Courtney's love turned into greed and then her running off and hiding afterward, "Hands were tied"-She was busy.

honestly reminds me of what i'm going through now. i was with a girl that i fell pretty hard for and i did everything i could to treat her the best i could, and she never returned any of that. of course i never noticed because of what i felt for her, she could do no wrong. then she broke up with me all of a sudden, made up some bullshit reason, and i think she pretty much just lost interest. now she's dating some new guy who is a complete dickhead and i sit here wondering, what did i do to deserve this. seriously this song reminds me of that like "why'd u have to go and let it die" what did i do to deserve this and "do you ever think of me, you're so considerate" now that she's with someone else, she acts like i don't exist. ugh, it hurts knowing the only one if ever close to loved is a bitch who has forgotten me, but that's really what this song is about.

In his u-tube interview, he says he has known alot of people who have destroyed their lives with drugs, which is probably true, but c'mon, it definitely is about kurt and courtney- Dave probably isn't admitting it because he doesn't want any rage from psycho-love......

Winona, Kurt Cobain brought a whole new generation of music to the world. Kurt Cobain did more for music than you ever will by breathing. If you cant respect that then dont talk about him.
anywho, this is a great song, nice rise from slow and wimsical to fast and heartpounding.

Why do people think that every song is about Kurt Cobain? I'm sick of reading comments for songs and people are saying, "Oh, this is obviously about Kurt Cobain!" and "This is about Kurt and Courtney's relationship!" And because Dave Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana, people automatically assume that 90% of the songs he writes pertain to Kurt.

People... GET OVER IT!

Not every effin' song is about Kurt freakin' Cobain. He's dead. DEAD. He was a drug addict who created some of the worst music this world has ever seen. His songs were insipid and uninspiring. Why does everyone act like the man was brilliant saint? He wasn't.

By the way, this song is amazing. Beautiful. I love how it starts out slow and then takes off and becomes loud and deep. I think it's possibly about a co-dependant relationship, or a love that has been tainted.

This song is not about Kurt cobain. haha let the man write a freaken song without thinking its about kurt!!! although i thought it too....

Dave said in a interview, that this song was not about kurt, and that he used to not write songs because he thought people would think it was about kurt and he didn't want to answer those questions, but now he is writing whatever he wants and will gladly explain that that is NOT what i wrote it about.....

after saying that Taylor hawkins decided to lighten things up by saying "When i first heard it i thought it was about the break up of CREED..."

Let it Die sounds a little bit like Dave's relationship with Kurt Kobain. Some of the words make me think that because it talks about simple man and his blush and bride (courtney love) although i heard in an interview with dave that he says its not only about Kurt but hes had other people in his live that have gone downhill because of drugs and stuff.

i played this song over and over again the night my stepdad first beat my mother.
when i finally saw her i just left her with this song.
like she was letting our relationship die by staying with him.

"hearts gone cold hands are tied"
"heart of gold but lost its pride"
to me that ended up symbolizing how she became tied to a relationship with an evil man, and lost all her pride and dignity so she wasnt strong enough to leave.

"did you ever think of me your so considerate"
was about how she never thought of how their relationship might effect me.

i know thats not what the song was written about.
but thats what it means to me.

To me, this song is about a long relationship that ended because one person fell out of love with the other person in the relationship "In too deep and out of time". One person with a heart of gold is still in love which causes a loss of pride, the other person's heart went cold and possibly wanted to be in love with the other but couldn't make them self "your hands were tied". What I feel from the song is that the person who fell out of love strings the other person along "inconsiderate" which angers the other person.

I think this song is about anyone who was some how dependent on two other people's relationship, or felt deeply effected by it, and the confusion you can have when it ends. like, a child with divorced parents. but if dave said it goes out to courtney, that too makes sense!

i think it sounds like a girl he could have had a relationship with but when i 1st herd it i thought it might have been about his dead friend/guitarist Kurt Cobain but it sound more like it was about kurt morn then a girl but its a kick ass song i like how it just starts all slow and then it just kicks it up to hard rock
