Lyrics for Let It Die as interpreted by risefromtheashes

Let It Die Lyrics
A heart of gold
But it lost it's pride
Beautiful veins
And bloodshot eyes
I see your face
In another light

Why'd you have to go
And let it die
Why'd you have to go
And let it die
Why'd you have to go
And let it die
In too deep
And out of time
Why'd you have to go
And let it die

A simple man
And his blushing bride
(Why'd you have to go)
(And let it die)
Intravenous
Intertwined
(Why'd you have to go)
(And let it die)
Hearts gone cold
Your hands were tied
(Why'd you have to go)
(And let it die)

Why'd you have to go
And let it die
(Why'd you have to go)
(And let it die)
Why'd you have to go
And let it die
In too deep
And out of time
Why'd you have to go
And let it die

Do you ever think of me
You're so considerate
Did you ever think of me
Oh so considerate

In too deep
And lost in time
Why'd you have to go
And let it die
Beautiful veins
And bloodshot eyes
Why'd you have to go
And let it die
Hearts gone cold
And hands are tied
Why'd you have to go
And let it die
Why'd you have to go
And let it die

Do you ever think of me
You're so considerate
Did you think of me
Oh so considerate

In too deep
And lost in time
Why'd you have to go
And let it die
Beautiful veins
And bloodshot eyes
Why'd you have to go
And let it die
Hearts gone cold
And hands are tied
Why'd you have to go
And let it die
Why'd you have to go
And let this die
Why'd you have to go
And let this die
Why'd you have to go
And let this die
Why'd you have to go
And let this die
Why'd you have to go
And let it die

Good song! It sounds like a relationship with someone with drug abuse. I might be wrong but damn fine track.

This song is a true kick ass song.

Makes you feel pumped to hear it and play it. Some true 300 feeling haha.

I think its bascially about a relationship, where the girl (or boy possibly) just stopped loving after a long and deep relationship.

Either way......Crazy song...in love with it and the whole album

This song is obviously about Courtney Love/Kurt Cobain seeing as Dave (lead singer of Foo Fighters) was the drummer of Nirvana.

And it so obvious to you because you read the article, otherwise you would've had no idea.

I get so sick of people always inferring that every song Dave writes is about Kurt. I'm sure he misses him, as we all do, but I'm pretty sure he's picked himself up.

I think this song is just about someone who has a drug problem and it has destroyed their relationship.

The line "Do you ever think of me," gives an indication that the person is still alive, hence it can't be Kurt.

i agree btw that this probably has something to do with the whole kurt-courtney thing, especially since dave and krist from nirvana were in court over the bands distribution rights.

but i think that most of the foo's songs have multiple meanings. and the last album had "friend of a friend" which was about kurt, so i don't see why this album couldn't have songs about him too.

Well, I like the first part...much morew haunting...I think if they kept it like that, it would produce a better effect...

The song is still good, though...

Yeah, it seems to be about Courtney (I, like many FF fans, am disgruntled that people believe that EVERY one of their songs is either about Kurt or Courtney, however, this one DOES seem directed at her)...

I believe she sold the rights to Nirvana's songs...in fact, they were presented on a whole episode of Cold Case...obviously, Dave and Krist wouldn't have done that, and Dave is wondering how she could've sold out Nirvana's music, "letting it die" in the process.

Dave when posed with quiestions of his opinions of Ms Love has stated time and time again, that does not feel she is worth thiking about, commenting about, or getting upset over. So I think that the idea of so many FF songs are about her is absurd.

Such a great song.. jumped out at me right away first time I listened to theiir new album. Nevermind the meaning, everyone will have their opinion. How about the distinct change the song takes around the 2:00 mark? Literally no change in lyrics, but a definite change about how he feels about the question "why'd you have to go and let it die". Whatever he wrote this song about, in the beginning it's almost as if he just wanted an answer for some closure or peace of mind... but at the end it gives you a sense that no matter what the answer may be, this is something that will burn inside of him til he dies as well

the lyrics:

"did you ever think of me
your so considerate"

these to me are obvious sarcasm... possibly directed at courtney love. i believe it is about her once i heard the lyrics:

"A simple man
And his blushing bride"

Call it me adding my own experiences to it, but I saw it as being about a failed relationship. A relationship built on obsession on his part, and she "let it die" by never really caring about him or his feelings, "Oh so considerate" (obviously its in a sarcastic tone).

"A heart of gold
But it lost it's pride"

Possibly about said male in relationship. He's your quintessential "nice guy", with a heart of gold, but in this relationship he basically destroyed any form of self-pride he had because of the obsession.

"A simple man
And his blushing bride"

Now, I'm not too sure exactly how this fits in, but it just seems to...

"Hearts gone cold
And hands are tied"

It's over. There is nothing he could do about it. She has ceased to care...

Anyway, that's what I got out of it. mainly because it describes my last relationship. WHat do you reckon?

i def. think this song is kurt related. he's written so many songs in his honor.. i think this one is for him, but now he's letting his anger out. I'm sure he grieved and he still does, but i'm sure he had to be angry and a little selfish.

why'd you have to go and let this die?

I read in a magazine article where Dave Grohl said that making this album was a nightmare with going through his divorce and he was having a full meltdown. He goes on to say he wrote the lyrics for the whole album in a week, so the lyrics are products of the moment and everything that was going on in his.
After reading this, I think this song has to do with his divorce. It refers to one person in the relationship giving up on it without a fight, therefore letting the love die. I think it deals with a relationship falling apart because one person isnt giving it their all, so its one sided.

i looked it up. they arent divorced. so XP ur wrong. he was divorced in the 90s. i also heard on the radio today that he said in an interview he stills has dreams that kurt is alive, but everyone else thinks hes dead. so he is obviously not that over it. im not saying every foo song is about kurt. just like at least one or two. i win!
