Sorrow rebuild me as I step out of the light
Misery strengthen me as I say my goodbyes
I heal my wounds with grief
And dream of you
And weep myself alive
Misery strengthen me as I say my goodbyes
I heal my wounds with grief
And dream of you
And weep myself alive

Note that at first glance, it seems like he forgot to add "s" at the end of "rebuild" and "strengthen". I really doubt that it was done by mistake, knowing Ville.
What I mean is that he is asking sorrow to rebuild him, not stating that sorrow is rebuilding him. Same goes for misery, to whom he asked for strength. If you do not yet understand what I mean, I would just add a word : "Misery, please strengthen me, as I say my goodbyes."
I think it adds a layer to it, to what he was feeling.
"sorrow rebuild me as i step out of the light"-He's stepping out of the light of the love of his still living loved ones hoping, that by doing this, he will be able to heal the void caused by the pain of loss
"misery strengthen me as i say my goodbyes"-the pain and sorrow that he feels is the path through which he will be able to let got of the one he lossed
"i heal my wounds with grief"-the painful seeping cut caused by the blade of loss will only be healed by dealing with his feelings toward his loss
"and dream of you"-he knows that always he will feel the loss of his friend and he will dream about the life of his friend forever
"and weep myself alive"-through the tears he has and will still shed he will find acceptence and be able to step back into the love of his loved ones and continue living his life
this song, though short, is extremly beautiful and is one of my favorites
the meaning and simplicity of it moves me.
it makes my heart ache.
i use it as a spirit lifter too.
i think, the meaning is simple. ville wrote it for his friend. his friend chose suicide. ville was depressed for awhile and didn't have high spirits and he chose song to keep himself going.
i always think weaping myself alive for ville would be he sings his misery and plays with sorrow, but the music lifts himself up so he's still alive and going. thank god.
Sorrow rebuild me as I step out of the light
-the felling you have after stepping away from the coffin and are no longer in the spotlight-
Misery strengthen me as I say my goodbyes
-It is miserable to say goodbye to a loved who has died-
I heal my wounds with greif
-the pain of ones death is endless-
And dream of you
-you will always be in my dreams-
And weap myself alive
the pain of loosing a loved one is like dieing yourself so the only way to feel better is through tears, because no words can make you feel better
For me, the meaning is very clear: sometimes in life you feel so so so bad that you think you wanna die. In this case, the person singing feels like he wants to commit suicide but instead he decided to write/sing a song. that's why the name is Song or suicide, so is either one or the other and he chooses music cause is the only thing he can take the pain away with. a extremely sad song that I love so much! It is just like my life. I used to be so happy, full of light, now I am in the dark everytime. Plus my father in law died and days after I heard this song, so my goodbyes and my pain in this song goes to him.
in my case yes though this does talk about coping with grief....it's pointed more to something else..love
in alot of songs Ville talks about losing the one he love and how he admits to caring about her and wanting her back....take that understanding and it also fits this song
And dream of you
And weep myself alive ---- this all means that he's so hurt so heartbroken that he continues to struggle and care for the one he loves.....
and coping with it.
