Don't get any big ideas
They're not gonna happen
You paint yourself white
And fill up with noise
There'll be something missing
Now that you've found it, it's gone
Now that you feel it, you don't
You've gone off the rails
So don't get any big ideas
They're not gonna happen
Ooh, you'll go to Hell
For what your dirty mind is thinking
They're not gonna happen
You paint yourself white
And fill up with noise
There'll be something missing
Now that you've found it, it's gone
Now that you feel it, you don't
You've gone off the rails
So don't get any big ideas
They're not gonna happen
Ooh, you'll go to Hell
For what your dirty mind is thinking

many people have already said this, but i feel compelled to add my 2¢.
nude is not about sex. it's about being bare and vulnerable to others' perception. it's not naked 'cause that's an alone thing. nude is when you are being viewed.
i think it's about a double consciousness. he is nude to himself. he is giving up the vail he's been hiding behind. he may think he's innocent by painting himself white, but he is not. instead, he is really speaking honestly to himself. no, whatever his big ideas are, they are NOT going to happen. whatever he wants to find or feel, are NOT going to go anywhere. he will just drive himself crazy (off the rails) pining for them because there will always be something missing. hope and dreams may beckon him, but he needs to just realize that they will put him in a vicious circle so he needs to not succumb to those things. he ends by warning that he will put himself through hell (go to hell) if he allows his mind to hold onto those thoughts that keep him shrouded in pointless hopes and dreams.
I like your interpretation (and the band). Never thought it had to do with a lack of clothing. "Pointless hopes and dreams"....sounds like a rather pessimistic view. In the song there is a line of optimism, though: "you'll only want to come back again." He is not happy with his pessimism, which in essence is a sign of hope. A contradictory song, which perhaps is why it's so good.
