Lyrics for You! Me! Dancing! as interpreted by theTyrant

You! Me! Dancing! Lyrics
The beats, yeah, they were coming out the speakers
And were winding up straight in your sneakers.
And I'm dancing like every song he spins is bis or like
Like all my dance heroes would if they existed.

And it's sad that you think that they're all just scenesters
(And even if we were it's not the scene you're thinking of)
To taking props from like these boy band fashions
All crop tops and testosterone passion.

If there's one thing that I could never confess,
It's that I can't dance a single step.

It's you!
It's me!
And there's dancing!

Not sure if you mind if I dance with you,
But I don't think right now that you care about anything at all.
And oh, if only there were clothes on the floor,
I'd feel for certain I was bedroom dancing.
And it's all flailing limbs at the front line.
Every single one of us is twisted by design
And dispatches from the back of my mind
Say as long as we're here everything is alright.

If there's one thing that I could never confess,
It's that I can't dance a single step.

It's you!
It's me!
And there's dancing!

What is being said in the last minute while he goes on the little rant? He talks about being confused because at night grocery stores turn off their lights. But that's about all I can make out.

Oh yeah! and it says something about paddling in the fountain, and that they weren't ignorant, they were happy. Aw I love this song.

I think it's about two lovers (duh) who are kinda new to it all, and a bit nervous around each other. And how they aren't really sure about it. Dancing being Sex ofcourse "one thing, I could never confess, is that I can't dance a single step", referring to him not being sure if he can "do it" right.
It's a cute song. Love it x

you've got so many of the lines wrong.
it should be
"it's you, it's me, and it's dancing"
and "if there's one thing, that i could never confess, it's that i can't dance a single step."
"it's sad that you think that we're all just scenesters, and even if we were it's not the scene you're thinking of."

but the bit at the end:
"and i always get confused
because in supermarkets they turn the lights off when they want you to leave, but in discos they turn them on,
and it's always sad to go, but it's never that sad,
because there's only certain places you're guaranteed of getting a hug when you go.
and on the way home, it seems like a good idea to go paddle in the fountain, and that's because it IS a good idea
and it's like we're all (...?...) man, and the state of nature
we're undeveloped, we're ignorant, we're stupid, but we're happy."

i don't think the song is about sex at all. it is surely just a simple tale of young people, going out, and the things that concern them on these nights out - other people, dancing, etc... 'twisted by design' is a club night in cardiff that the band used to go to.

this song is so good it makes my head melt.

the stuff about being in the fountain is them on E, as far as i could gather - that and "but right now I don't think you care about anything at all" says that to me anyway. Also, it's "If there's one thing I could never confess, it's that I can't dance a single step" - not sing or step.

One of the girls is my friends cousin - not sure which, never met her.. but it's how i found the band anyhow!

Great, great song. The beginning is amazing and that guitar riff... I can't get it out of my head.

Thanks for the real lyrics!

these are still incorrect lyrics.
the correct words are "I'm dancing like every song he spins is bis, or like..."
also: "we're all just scenesters" and "just taking props from nineties boy band fashions".

Yea, it seems like it's about dancing, not sex. I think the bit about clothes on the floor has to do with dancing alone in your room. I guess they are letting their guards down and just going crazy with dancing.

love it!

i think the last bit of the speaking part is "....and that's because it is a good idea. and we're all like how rousseau depicts man in the state of nature - we're undeveloped, we're ignorant, we're stupid, but we're happy."

The song is about "Twisted by Design", a club night in Cardiff, Wales, UK, where the band is from. Hence "we're all twisted by design" and a the, uhm, dancing.

ok, so definitive lyrics for the spoken bit at the end:

"and I always get confused,
because in supermarkets they turn the lights off when they want you to leave,
but in discos they turn them on.
and it's always sad to go, but it's never that sad,
because there's only so many places you're guaranteed of getting a hug when you leave.
and then on the way home, it always seems like a good idea to go paddling in the fountain, and that's because it IS a good idea.
and were just like, how rousseau depicts man in the state of nature:
we're undeveloped, we're ignorant, we're stupid, but we're happy."

also, i love this song slash the whole ep. i could listen to just sticking fingers into sockets for a week straight [actually, i did that last week...]; i dont care if its only sixteen minutes, it is ridiculously amazing.

I get a strong Le Tigre reference when he says 'bedroom dancing.'

When the main riff comes in it actually makes me want to get up and dance. It's great. I keep finding myself humming the riff all the time.

I think they could have done without the intro though o shortened it a little, it put me off the first time i listened to it.

Despite this,My favourite song at the moment even though it came out sometime last year!

I can't even comprehend how amazing this song is live. The intro was extended a good three minutes, which made the those first few guitar chords absolutely beautiful.

It still blows my mind that seven band members are that cohesive with their instruments and performances. This band has some serious talent.

Best Los Campesinos! song ever? I think so.

One of the best songs in existence? Quite possibly.

One of the best songs of AWESOMENESS? Most definetely.

Like most of the people on this page, I think this song is just about letting loose having fun, and not paying any attention to all the labels or images that others like to brand("scenesters"). It's happier then many of their other songs, which are known for being lyrically pessimistic in tone. Not that I don't like Gareth acting as the bitter, existential peanut gallery to every musican, doomed relationship, or sucky personal moment that he references. It's one of LC!'s defining features, as well as a trademark of most indie bands.

In fact, this song is still pretty sarcastic, as it talks about the stereotypes of "scenesters" and "taking props from like these boy band fashions. All crop tops and testosterone passion."

But the point that this song makes is that it JUST DOESN'T MATTER. The biggest concern of the singer, and also the line that makes me smile almost every time I hear it, is simply stated as follows:

"If there's one thing that I could never confess,
It's that I can't dance a single step."

Yes, they can go out clubbin' and swing around like the bees knees, but he, feels slightly awkward about the moment. He can't. I couldn't dance to save my life.

So in a way, he connects with the audience through this statement.

However, this is soon followed by the happy-go-lucky, kid-like mantra: "It's YOU! It's ME! And it's DANCING!"

Among one of the most refreshing and enjoyable surprises of the new age, that oddly makes me feel like a kid again. It's triumphant and cheerful without it ever caring to be. And while others might not like it because of it's shouty lyrics, "annoying" male lead's voice, loud and jumbly sound (how I love the guitar and drums in this song), or just plain "I don't like indie/ I don't like rock."....

I don't care; I, myself, am not involved in the "twee/indie" scene, despite liking several indie musicians/bands. I just don't care; why? Because it's you, it's me, and it's dancing!

I think the "bedroom dancing" may be a reference to the Le Tigre song Eau d'Bedroom Dancing. Gareth is often seen wearing Bikini Kill t-shirts, so it's not a stretch to assume he likes Le Tigre too.

The intro to this song promises something amazing, until about 2:05, when it turns back into a Los Campesinos! song, at which point I'm disappointed. It's so happy of a song, it becomes reckless, discarding the prog-rock-ish intro for something more childish.
