but at the same time I can see the whole religious and apocalyptic message that it could relate to.
considering that winds of plague have a lot of roots in black metal, It would make sense to me that it could have that meaning.

Bush's two terms are nearing and end and change is most likely coming.

I think it's referring to the people that are afraid of the end of the world, and live their life in fear of death.
instead of living it to the fullest.
hence the whole "an origin set in fear"
and it basically says that in the end only those who lived their lives and stood strong in the world will be left.
and everyone else will be destroyed.
