She's gotta do what she's gotta do
And I've gotta like it or not
She's got dreams too big for this town
And she needs to give 'em a shot
Whatever they are
Looks like she's all ready to leave
Nothing left to pack
There ain't no room for me in that car
Even if she asked me to tag along
God I gotta be strong
(chorus)
She's at the startin' line of the rest of her life
As ready as she's ever been
Got the hunger and the stars in her eyes
The prize is hers to win
She's waitin' on my blessings before she hits that open road
Baby get ready
Get set
Don't go
She says things are fallen into place
Feels like they're fallen apart
I painted this big ol' smile on my face
To hide my broken heart
If only she knew
This is where I don't say what I want so bad to say
This is where I want to but I won't get in the way
Of her and her dreams
And spreadin' her wings
She's at the startin' line of the rest of her life
As ready as she's ever been
Got the hunger and the stars in her eyes
The prize is hers to win
She's waitin' on my blessings before she hits that open road
Baby get ready
Get set
Don't go
She's at the startin' line of the rest of her life
As ready as she's ever been
Got the hunger and the stars in her eyes
The prize is hers to win
She's waitin' on my blessings before she hits that open road
Baby get ready
Get set
Don't go
Don't go
Don't go
She's gotta do what she's gotta do
She's gotta do what she's gotta do

such an amazing song - well done billy and miley :D
Although I can't really relate to it, the lyrics are great and their voices are beautiful (:
I love Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus forevvveeerrr!
I'm a daddy's girl... always have been and always will be. This song says that all dads have trouble letting go of their daughters. I'm my mommy and daddys only child and in 3 months I am going to frace for 10 days and I think this song is perfect for him.... letting him know that even though he loves me at some point you need to let me go so i can live my life.
This song is an anthem to all fathers who have little girls and know what it feels like to know that one day they need to let us go
You knwo it's best for her to leave, but that it probably isn't nest for you. You try to be the stand-up guy and get in the way of her dreams, because you want her to be happy, you truly do. But everything inside you is screaming not to let her leave. But you put on a fake face, and you say what you "should" say, but it kills you.
Great job by BRC of making the song double-edged.
And we can all tell it's about his daughter, and how she's 'spreadin' her wings' and taking off. She's living her dreams, but he doesn't want to let his baby girl go yet.
