It's been a long day at the bottom of the hill,
she died of a broken heart.
She told me i was living in the past,
drinking from a broken glass.

[Chorus]
I'm alone (I never wanna be alone),
now i (now i) turn to face the cold.
I'm alone (I never wanna be alone),
now i (now i) turn to travel home.

I walked down to the other end of the day,
just to catch those last few waves.
I held out my hand and slowly waved goodbye,
i turned now my eyes up to the sky.

[Chorus]
I'm alone (I never wanna be alone),
now i (now i) turn to face the cold.
I'm alone (I never wanna be alone),
now i (now i) turn to travel home.

She'll come back to me (She'll come back to me).
She'll come back to me (She'll come back to me).
All alone in this misery.
She'll come back to me.

I held out my hands into the light and i watched it die,
i know that i was part to play.
My god, my time to die.
Never want to spend my life alone

[Chorus]
I'm alone (I never wanna be alone),
now i (now i) try to face the cold.
I'm alone (I never wanna be alone),
now i (now i) try to travel home.

General Comment:Some of the replies here are pretty sad. This is NOT Pearl Jam or Alice in Chains, it is a band called Downface that ripped off both bands. And it was spread across the internet as Pearl Jam/Alice in Chains as a publicity stunt. It doesn't help the confusion that there is a Pearl Jam song on Lost Dogs called Alone, but it's NOTHING like this heap of shit song. It's actually good.
Nomenclature - not even close. Spreading false information like that is dangerous. It's a great way to give the assholes that used false advertizing to get publicity for a shitty ripoff song what they wanted.

While you're here, zip over to Pearl Jam's "Lost Dogs" and listen to the REAL Alone. It's an awesome rauccus song, very angry and pissed off, with great lyrics. It was one of Pearl Jam's first songs, and was an outtake of the album Ten.

General Comment:Guys... how can you all be so uninformed?

Downface is what one would call a "Supergroup," much like Kings of Leon. It was comprised of members of both Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. You hearing Layne Staley in the song is no coincidence, seeing as how it WAS Layne Staley.

Anderson is entirely wrong in his statement that the song didn't get popular until downloading sites came along. That song was played on the radio stations all the time while I was growing up in the era of grunge rock. It was all the rage, especially after Layne Staley died. DJgif makes me chuckle with his statement that they are "some crap band." If you're a fan of both AiC and PJ, then Downface was the pinnacle of musical orgasm for you back in the late '90's.
