I was full by your count
I was lost but your fool
Was a long visit wrong?
Say you are the only

So many foreign worlds
(So relatively fucked)
So ready for us
So ready for us,
The creature fear

Teased by your blouse
Spit out by your mouth
I was loud by your lowered
Seminary sold

Tear on tail on
Take all on the wind on
The soft bloody nose
Sign another floor...

The so many territories
Ready to reform
Don't let it form us
Don't let it form us
The creature fear

So did he foil is 'own?
Is he ready to reform?
So many torahs
So many for us
The creature fear

General Comment:What's the meaning of "tail on". As I'm from a spanish speaking country I can't really understand it. Of course I know that "tear on, tail on" means to keep living and going ahead, but I'd like to know the explicit meaning of "tail on". Can anyone help me, please? Thanks.

Lyric Correction:Um, I may be entirely wrong and please no one get pissy about the song not being about war because there are these things called metaphors and war can be one but I could have sworn the lyrics were:

'so many foreign wars (or wolves I hear either)
    ready to be fought
    So ready for us
    So ready for us,
    The creature fear'

    not:

    'So many foreign worlds

    (So relatively fucked)

    So ready for us

    So ready for us,

    The creature fear'

I was lost but your fool

    Was a long visit wrong?

    Say you are the only

You thought I was great or something
I wasn't really feeling it but enjoyed playing the role
I'm unsure if this is real
    reassure me

    So many foreign worlds

    (So relatively fucked)

    So ready for us

    So ready for us,

    The creature fear

The possibilities of the future for us is endless, and many of them are pretty shitty, and they're coming fast, it seems inevitable

I call this concept creature fear

    Teased by your blouse

    Spit out by your mouth

I was loud by your lowered

    Seminary sold

    Seduced or something
    Ridicule of some kind
I responded to something know as "lowered" (perhaps expectations or lowered standards of behaviour)
Either I'm done preaching or done listening to your preaching

    Tear on tail on

Take all on the wind on

    The soft bloody nose

    Sign another floor...

    I love this verse

Basically, go ahead, dive into a new life, "new tail" or "tale"? either way, sounds great and all, until you autograph the fucking floor with your blood (fall on your face)

    The so many territories

    Ready to reform

    Don't let it form us

    Don't let it form us

    The creature fear

Maybe don't let the fear of the future create the future? Or don't let your rules or per-conceveived notions define us

So did he foil is 'own?

    Is he ready to reform?

    So many torahs

    So many for us

    The creature fear

Did I fuck up my own plan?
Am I ready to change to fit your previously mentioned vision of who I am?
I see this as being restrictive rules for our relationship
which is what bothered me in the first place

General Comment:I believe this song is about a failed relationship and the reason for the failure of it was a 'creature fear'.

The fear of being a human being and losing what it is important for you for someone else. It seems that in his relationship, they were both on opposite pages, yet so in love. Their love was pure, but the power of the subconscious knowing they weren't right for eachother constantly tore at him and possibly her, 'don't let it form us - the creature fear'

But it does form us. Our creature fears are beyond us; our entire lives we search to become ourselves - but the entire way we use guidance from Torahs, Korans, Bibles, Buddah, etc. and accept some and reject others based on this fear. I feel like he explains this in a personal way and on a global scale when mentioning 'territories ready to reform' and 'foreign Worlds relatively fucked'.

His relationship was already on a 'full count' (a baseball term that means you have 2 strikes and 3 balls, a strike three and your out or a 4th ball and you walk) now that he reflects back on the past, but he was lost when with her.

To sum it up, I think in his case, he had a lot planned with this person. He had big dreams and expectations and so many places to travel and see and experience together, but now those experiences that were possibly planned will never happen. But if they did happen, he now realizes they would have been completely different, conforming to each other. This wouldn't have necessarily made them unhappy, but it just couldn't have happened due to the 'creature fear' of the human.

General Comment:This song never struck me as a political statement. This whole album was created based on the deep personal reflection he made during his time alone. Honestly, I really don't think he took up being a recluse because he was pissed off about Iraq (specifically). I think this song has more to do with the darker side of human nature that displays a "creature fear" of anything or anyone that is different from us. This song is sort of his view on the outside world during his time at the cabin.
the expectations that we have for those differences to reform and conform to our standards because humans usually tend to view their way as the right way. and because of this all these nations and worlds are "so relatively fucked" because of this fear or "so ready to be full" because each nation wants the other to conform and it is the same on a smaller scale when it comes to personal relationships.

    My Opinion:Goodness.

How do you guys even begin to fathom the meaning of the song when the lyrics are wrong in the first place?

General Comment:I've loved this song for a while, but this is the first time I really read the lyrics...and now I love the song even more!

I get a strong vibe that it's about how a person can (or feels as if they should) hold a certain philosophical or religious view.

I was full by your count
(Not sure about this one, haha)
I was lost but your fool
(Different religions/ideas set up saviors, i.e. fools, that show us the way. This line is a bit mocking.)
    Was a long visit wrong?
(was it wrong to explore different perspectives?)
    Say you are the only
(Many philosophies claim THEY are the sole truth)

    So many foreign worlds
    (Once again, different perspectives)
    (So relatively fucked)
(Absolutely love this line! Many viewpoints preach doom and gloom. We are "relatively" fucked by our human condition unless we follow a certain path.)
    So ready for us
    So ready for us,
    The creature fear
(It's so easy to slip back into whatever we are taught when we're young or whatever holds the most power over us through fear. As a former Christian I would often feel guilt and fear if I believed I could hold a different belief than what i was taught growing up, hence the primal "creature fear".)

    Teased by your blouse
    (Not sure about this either...)
    Spit out by your mouth
(Reference to the Bible verse where Jesus spits out the lukewarm Christians. Or how we are completely rejected if we don't fully conform to certain beliefs.)
I was loud by your lowered
    Seminary sold
(Not quite sure either, but perhaps something about he we fall into certain beliefs or become "seminary sold" out to certain ideologies.

    Tear on tail on
Take all on the wind on
    The soft bloody nose
    Sign another floor...
(The most confusing, but yet my favorite stanza. All I get from it is the last line is a reference to blood drops falling on the floor in a random pattern, creating a "signature".)

    The so many territories
    Ready to reform
    Don't let it form us
    Don't let it form us
    The creature fear

So did he foil is 'own?
    Is he ready to reform?
    So many torahs
    So many for us
    The creature fear
(Don't let any one viewpoint create your meaning, especially if you only hold that viewpoint based on the fear of holding any other viewpoint that may or may not be truer. The torahs are any belief system that has stringent rules, of which there are "so many for us".)

    Well, I'm done rambling...thoughts?

General Comment:The 'anonymous' creature metaphor is something I've seen pop up in multiple lyrics before, and the lyrics often revolve around the same interpretation of this creature. In this song, I think of this creature as being the collective subconscious. It's the inner self within us that we don't want to reveal to others out of fear of becoming too vulnerable, so we spend our entire lives mastering the different masks we put on to influence people in ways that are favorable to us. In this regard, this creature could be thought of as this powerful consciousness within us that wants to break out and evolve out of the suffering that has binded the world for so long, but instead we hold back in fear and quarantine ourselves from such madness.

General Comment:I think it's about a relationship also
I was full by your count
I take that as in baseball a full count
He can take a swing and strike out or take a walk
    It's all on the line,
I kinda get the vibe he was unsure about committing
I was lost but your fool
Maybe the creature fear is that there is someone else we will miss
    If we settle down

Not sure, just throwing my hat into the ring
