Come on, skinny love, just last the year
Pour a little salt, we were never here
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer

I tell my love to wreck it all
Cut out all the ropes and let me fall
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Right in this moment, this order's tall

And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
And in the morning I'll be with you
But it will be a different kind
And I'll be holding all the tickets
And you'll be owning all the fines

Come on, skinny love, what happened here?
Suckle on the hope in light brassieres
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Sullen load is full, so slow on the split

And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
And now all your love is wasted
And then who the hell was I?
And I'm breaking at the britches
And at the end of all your lines

Who will love you?
Who will fight?
Who will fall far behind?
Ooh, ooh
Woo, oh ooh

    My Opinion

I feel that people are missing what I consider to be a major part of music: and that's the instrument[ation] used. He's using an old c. 1929 national resonator guitar on this song. It's the only song on the entire album with this guitar. All of us musicians and songwriter remember our first instrument, it has a very special connection to us. Just like this guitar has with him I'm sure. So for him to find this song worthy of this guitar is a monumental deal we just tend to glaze over. The tonal quality, the character, everything about it seemed to fit the song perfectly to him. And it does. The rest of the album is played with what I think is a Cordorba 55r classical guitar. I think. Anyways, sometimes it's not the "best" instrument, but its the one with the most character that will allow someone's passion to be shouted out. I love this song, band, album, and website because it almost let's me have a conversation with people in a sense; gives me a crapload of point-of-views. I hope my insight was beneficial.
