There's a girl that wants to stop
Been thinking about having a couple of kids
Comb a brush around their heads in the morning
To be needed, simply and with meaning

Her name is Karen
Been on the road for so long
She wants to live in a place that has a number and a name
Find love as an anchor before the courage is gone

[Chorus]
She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, I tell you
She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, Prescilla
She really loves him, I tell you

To live life outside the whirl
To break the cross that bears her name
She's not your queen anymore, queen of the highway
Needs something better than running away

[Chorus]

Gone away
Queen of the Highway
Gone away

Gone away
Queen of the Highway
Gone away

My Opinion:Well, I have a strange view on this song. Although it's not one of my favourite Bat songs, I believe that in a strange way it is kind of making fun of many modern songs in their mundane unoriginality and repetitively unimaginative remarks about love. It kinda reminds me of a Beatles song - "She loves you, yeah yeah yeah..." Do you get what I mean? Or am I just insane?

General Comment:I believe the song is about a young woman who has been homeless and has never had love from a family, to be wanted, to be needed. I almost feel that she has a tragic home life which urges her to run away from home.

"To be needed, simply and be needing
    Her name is Karen
Been on the road for so long
She wants to live in a place that has a number in a name
Find lovers and anchor before the courage is all gone"

She is tired of living her "gypsy" lifestyle or being known as a "queen of the highway." She knows there is something much better than the life she is living and perhaps she sees a man that she longs to be with. Perhaps she has not met him, but is motivated and believes she loves him. I think Priscilla could be her mother that she has differences with about the man she may love, but Karen feels he can set her free.

    "She really loves him Priscilla
She really loves him, I tell you."

General Comment:Karen & Prescilla are probably two artistic hippies who are traveling the world. Trying to explore & find the truths of the world, artistically of course, but I think Prescilla, who is most likely the dominate one out of the relationship of the two ( For Karen is realizing Prescilla finally found herself in someone else and is finally departing from their journey together), has found her true love and is ready to find the truths of being a mother, etc. I also think Karen is scared to venture without her, alone, on the road.

My Opinion:It's probably just my own life experience talking, but the line "She's not your queen anymore", in addition to "She really loves him, Prescilla", really makes me think of a situation where there is some unrequited love on Prescilla's part. Karen's done running around and is ready to settle down, with a man, but Prescilla might have developed feelings for her and doesn't want to believe that Karen's moving on with her life.

I know I'm way off the mark here, but it's the story I picture when I listen to this song.

General Comment:I heard (don't remember where)that this song was about Karen who wants to settle down and have kids with a man she loves, and then Prescilla, is this Femme Fatale who tries to get this same man, and Bat is trying to tell Prescilla that Karen really loves him, and not to seduce the man.

Very reminiscent to the whole Pearl story, and the Siren Song in a way. I have a feeling Natasha has had problems with cheating men in the past.

General Comment:I was under the impression that the song was about a prostitute with the mention of "Queen of the highway", as, often times, prostitutes are found on the highway. "Queen of the Highway" could also refer to a woman who runs away, however. I'm guessing the song has to do with the second interpreation of Queen of the Highway. Upon viewing the lyrics, it seems that Karen wants to change her life and settle down, but is afraid to do so. She runs away from love, and though she wants to settle down, she loses the courage to and runs away from that too.

Song Meaning:I feel like this song is about a hooker/prostitute who fell in love with one of her customers and wants to settle down? Precilla is her "street name" but Karen is her real name and she's having a internal debate between her current lifestyle and the future she wants to have.

    Just a guess.

General Comment:I think she's whispering the start of the first verse, or at least I think so. It sounds like that. But there are loads of bits and pieces like that on F and G, and I've only heard a few little things on Two Suns too. Either on Sad Eyes or Wizard (can't remember) you can hear someone making slight noises in the background, not sure what but someone else is there. On Good Love there's a really loud cough part way through. Not too sure if there's anything else...the city noises at the start of Glass? I tend to listen to music with headphones on, therefore I normally pick up things like this.

General Comment:Has anyone else noticed her whispering during the opening beats? Listen to the song loudly with headphones on and I'm sure you'll hear it too. I think she's just going over the first few lines, but it's definitely there.
