Lyrics for 7 Shades of Black as interpreted by Love.Is.Suicide

7 Shades of Black Lyrics
I知 on the street yeah
I want you
I知 looking for myself

I知 gonna make it
I値l take it
Like everybody else

Belle of the fawning
I知 yawning
Sister can稚 you spell

Above suspicion
Hey listen
I知 digging my own hell

'Cause I want you bad
'Cause I want you bad

And without peer
And without fear
I知 without anyone at all
I知 torn apart, decrying
How unjust you are
For bursting
My black heart

'Cause you don稚 want me no more
But just you worry
'Cause when they scratch-scratch my door
You値l hurry
Ah 1, 2, 3

This gun is loaded, devoted
You postulate the rest

Riding the seesaw
There痴 no law
That I have ever met

I'm just a flat punk
On dead junk
Riding a vanguard

Out from the vaunted
I知 haunted, till death do us part

'Cause I want you bad
'Cause I want you bad

Fall in hate with me
With one trick
You will want it all
The yeah-yeah tears
The now and here
The without anyone at all
I'm torn without
I知 crying out for doom

'Cause you don稚 want me no more
But babe don稚 worry
'Cause when you scratch-scratch my door
I値l show you, either or

We are the lurking
The panzers
The black as coal as night

Stealing the stealthy
And stellar
Until we get it right

Notice the yearlings
The dead things, the pretty as you please
The pretty as you please

I am the regent, the marquis
Sowing my bad seeds

'Cause I want you bad
'Cause I want you bad

Fall in hate with me
With one trick
You will want it all
As St. Patrick pipes on

Wow. Even though this is supposed to be one of the "filler" songs on the album, I personally currently enjoy this song more than both Tarantula and Doomsday Clock, and nearly as much as Way My Love Is. I love the way it rocks and the beat to the song, just absolutely amazing. Not a big fan of the overly angsty lyrics, but you can barely even hear what he's saying anyway. ^_^

Supernuke, htf do you manage to do that? You've topped your old record by 2 xtra comments.
This is one strong song, I do have a suggestion to it's meaning, and if I'm wrong, I apologise. but i reckon this runs in the same vein as Cherub Rock, and Billy is venting frustration on the music industry and these new generation bands that are arriving, I'm thinking of hard-fi and maximo park and their american counterparts.

I repeat, I've only recently sat down with this album, I could easily be wrong.

This song is so raw and amazing. Definately one of my favorite on the album at this time.

I think this could be a self-critique by Billy about his music and lyrics and the music and lyrics of others. I semi-agree with Infra.

I think Billy is talking about his old style of writing compared to the tactics used on this current album. A lot of the music and lyrics on this album sound Gish-esque and Cherub Rock-ie (with the exception of For God and Country and Pomp and Circumstances).

He is obviously beating on himself and it could be because he has brought back a sound that he knew would work for the album instead of pushing his boundaries and experimenting more as he has always tried to do with his music.

I'm not saying that this album is completely lacking newness, but a good bit of the albums sounds like a return to older styles (which I am thankful for, I wasn't a big fan of Adore, Machina or Machina II).

Whatever the meaning, the music is amazing.

This song is terrible, just like Doomsday Clock. Or maybe it's just the damn production? At least that is for sure.

Lack of screams and whines + the worst production ever = this song being a flop. There are some great riffs on this album, its just the production. And whats with all these damn french sayings?

this is a great song! my favorite on this album. i don't know exactly what the lyrics mean, but billy is clearly "St. Patrick" (he was born on that particular holiday). as for the rest, it seems to be another self-indictment...

Zeitgeist does not suck I think it is a pretty pertinent album it may not be like the other smashing pumpkins albums but it is a lot better than allot of the other crap that they call music anymore. And the album lives up to it's title Zeitgeist which is a German word which means spirit of the times.

If any of the songs are about celebrity or are related to the Paris Hilton picture in the book I think it is this song. It is about an unhealthy obsession or love. In the lyrics the sinister alteration to the idea of falling in love, "fall in hate with me".I think the song is simply talking about in the modern era how we are getting our concepts of love and hate mixed up and more and more the concepts of love and violence are getting sickeningly intertwined. Thats just a thought I have no Idea what the song really means but I thought I would put my interpretation down here because I really have started to like this album.

I can't say I perfectly get it, but can't it be about obsessive love?

It seems like he's talking about a prostitute that he's obsessed with(think Marv from Sin City)
