The song is about someone who fell in love with a girl, the flame is his happiness/excitement or his feelings for her. When he is with her it makes him very happy, and the happiness got in the way sometimes when they were together, and stopped him from doing somethings. But when he was with someone new it all went away. he couldn't feel the same about anyone else. And it was all going good, and then they were on the phone and she breaks up with him, and it makes him sad.
lol that may be wrong, thats just my interpretation of it because i can relate it to myself. lol.
