Adopting Sarah's heart
(Was never gonna be easy)
With an angel tattoo sinking beneath her belt
(Sarah)
And the dirty blonde sea-water
(Sea-water gushing down)
Chewing fingernails in her shit-eating grin
(Sarah)
They cut out her heart when
(She was a little girl)
And in the fishing boat she thought
She saw the shadow of God
(Sarah)
He didn't smile at her and she decided
(He never came at all)
And when she died
She was going nowhere, nowhere, nowhere
Sarah, I want to be like you
(Sarah)
You know sometimes I want to live like you
(Sarah)
So I know how it feels not to feel
(Sarah)
Adopting Sarah's heart
(Was never gonna be easy)
Changing from black to blonde
To black to blonde
(Sarah)
But on the dirty tarmac of
(The tarmac of a melting motorway)
Gave me her clothes and told me
To take her place, her place
Sarah, I want to be like you
(Sarah)
You know sometimes I want to live like you
(Sarah)
So I know how it feels not to feel
(Sarah)
Sarah, I want to be like you
(Sarah)
You know sometimes I want to live like you
(Sarah)
So I know how it feels not to feel
(Sarah)

Pardon me.
but of only the words
"Sarah, I want to be like you
Sarah
You know sometimes I want to lo(i)ve like you"
Cause once the entirety is to be understood, it seems to be a story of a lost and depressed girl.
but my sara is nothing of that.
I also love the story book aspect of the album! Looks like the new one's gonna be similar what with Daniel and all...
I love how Natasha creates these characters- Sarah, Prescilla, Karen, etc. It makes her album like a storybook adventure with a dark twist or something.
the young girl puts her on a pedestal and wants to be like her, and finally gets the chance when "sarah" decides to basically hand over her badass title. that's what it basically translates to when it says "take her place."
the whole cutting out sarah's heart and whatnot, it's just a metaphor for her being heartless and unfeeling to the emotions of others. the young girl knows it's not going to be easy "adopting sarah's heart" because it's not really easy to go from being a regular person to someone who really just doesn't give a (blank) about anything.
my interpretation, at least.
