It's such a shame to let this go to waste
there's little time left here for saving face
we tried to put a bandage on these years
I know this isn't what you want to hear
You can say what you like
pass the blame, I dont mind
because we both lit the match that burned the bridge
we both lit the match that burned the bridge
we both lit the match and watched our bridges burn down
(yea, yea, oh oh)
I've come and grow this broken load of gold
what slipped through the cracks
I fear we'll never know
I walk you through the grave yard of my mind
show you a love
cause we both walked away
who was wrong? whose to say?
You can say what you like
pass the blame, I dont mind
because we both lit the match that burned the bridge
we both lit the match that burned the bridge
we both lit the match and watched our bridges burn down
there's little time left here for saving face
we tried to put a bandage on these years
I know this isn't what you want to hear
You can say what you like
pass the blame, I dont mind
because we both lit the match that burned the bridge
we both lit the match that burned the bridge
we both lit the match and watched our bridges burn down
(yea, yea, oh oh)
I've come and grow this broken load of gold
what slipped through the cracks
I fear we'll never know
I walk you through the grave yard of my mind
show you a love
cause we both walked away
who was wrong? whose to say?
You can say what you like
pass the blame, I dont mind

we both lit the match that burned the bridge
we both lit the match and watched our bridges burn down

Oh and... After the chorus the first time it's
"Our common ground was broken long ago
What slipped thru the cracks I fear we'll never know
I'll walk you through the graveyard of my mind
Show you a love that I buried alive"
Not about broken load of gold... That doesnt really make sense!
Anyways... This song was an easy one to get the jist of.
It's obviosly about a couple who probably had a bit of a bumpy, if you will, breakup. Looking back, he sees that they both had their part in the whole mess and no ONE person was really to blame. It was more of just a big spiraling mess of a relationship/breakup.
I personally like the "lit the match that burned the bridge" part. It's a clever little metaphore there.
