He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Started making his way past 2 in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days

Leaning now into the breeze
Remembering Sunday, he falls to his knees
They had breakfast together
But two eggs don't last
Like the feeling of what he needs

Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in

Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me

Even though she doesn't believe in love,
He's determined to call her bluff
Who could deny these butterflies?
They're filling his gut

Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces
He pleads though he tries
But he's only denied
Now he's dying to get inside

Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me

The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn't think much of it then
But it's starting to all make sense
Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds
Are following me in my desperate endeavor
To find my whoever, wherever she may be

I'm not coming back (forgive me)
I've done something so terrible
I'm terrified to speak (I'm not calling, I'm not calling)
But you'd expect that from me
I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt, now the rain is just (You're driving me crazy, I'm)
Washing you out of my hair and out of my mind
Keeping an eye on the world,
From so many thousands of feet off the ground, I'm over you now
I'm at home in the clouds, and towering over your head

Well I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home

My Interpretation:Ahhh Love this song :D
I think this song is about two people and the boy wants so marry her, but she isn't happy with her life so she kills herself, but she think thinks she is better off in heaven (I'm at home in the clouds). But he really loves her and it kills him to find out she is gone without her telling him anything about it but he has to get over it and move on (I'll guess i'll go home now) <3

My Interpretation:He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Started making his way past 2 in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days

    Leaning now into the breeze
Remembering Sunday, he falls to his knees
    They had breakfast together
    But two eggs don't last
Like the feeling of what he needs

he was asleep, and dreaming (presumably about the girl), and he's been drunk for a long time. suddenly, he remembers this girl that he saw on sunday, and realises he hasnt seen her since. he liked that they had breakfast because he wants to get closer to her, but she doesnt believe in love, but he wants to know more about her, and sitting down to eat eggs doesnt let him know enough about her, and he wants her to love him. this also may suggest she has had a hard life and he wants to help her but she is too scared to tell anyone.

Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in

they might have been drunk, and she took him up to her room. i personally do not believe this part is about sex, but more about letting him in as in letting him know about her past etc.

Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
    I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me

he is going around the neighbor hood to ask people if they have seen the girl he has been dreaming of. personally, i think that as he has been drunk he thinks the girl is somewhere around and just wants to know where because he wants to marry her.

Even though she doesn't believe in love,
He's determined to call her bluff
    Who could deny these butterflies?
    They're filling his gut

he wants to make her believe in love, because he loves her alot and just wants to know more about her so that he can help her.

    Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces
    He pleads though he tries
    But he's only denied
Now he's dying to get inside

he asks everyone again, he doesnt even know who they are, he's begging for someone to have seen the girl. no one knows, and he now really needs to know if something happened, and if she has had a troubled past.

then of course, the chorus is repeated...

The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn't think much of it then
But it's starting to all make sense

one of his neighbours finally knows her, but she's gone. (i think moved away is actually symbolic for death), and he remembers that it rains, and its ironic because how sad he was.

Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds
Are following me in my desperate endeavor
To find my whoever, wherever she may be

the clouds are basically sadness, and when all he wanted was to find the girl he was in love with, there was so much pain and sadness from it.

I'm not coming back (forgive me)
    I've done something so terrible
I'm terrified to speak (I'm not calling, I'm not calling)
But you'd expect that from me
I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt, now the rain is just (You're driving me crazy, I'm)
Washing you out of my hair and out of my mind
Keeping an eye on the world,
From so many thousands of feet off the ground, I'm over you now
I'm at home in the clouds, and towering over your head

i think this is definitely talking about suicide. she's had a really hard life, and no one has loved her until now so it confused her and she needed an escape. she thought that by doing that she would be fine and it would be good (washing you out of my hair, and out of my mind) but it's really not. she's trying to convince herself it was a good thing by saying the clouds (heaven) are her home, but its not really working so she is looking down at him and feeling a lot of sadness and pain.

'i guess i'll go home now' etc, is either of two things. the first being that he just thinks she has moved away, and he is going home to get over her, but the second is that that was actually a suicide letter (the part juliet sings) and as she refers to the clouds as home, he might go home (commit suicide) to be with her.

this song makes me cry every time i listen to it, and i honestly think that people who take this song to be about sex have it wrong, but its opinions and personal interpretation so...

    hope someone agrees?!

General Comment:i love this song for everything it is but i am so undecided in whether it's suicide or if she had cheated or any other alternative that would make her feel guilty and not be with him. whatever it may be i still love it. so ill enjoy it with my own thoughts!

General Comment:Keeping an eye on the world really does make me think she killed herself. I guess personally I hope that this song is something more romantic than a one night stand. Either way it'll always be my ex's song along with myself. It's hurtful and sad but it's one of those songs I just have to listen to.

Remembering Sunday, he falls to his knees
    They had breakfast together
    But two eggs don't last
Like the feeling of what he needs"

This is saying that a man just woke up very early in the morning after being drunk for a long time. He finally remembers Sunday when his girlfriend left him (or did something serious like suicide). They had breakfast Sunday morning but it doesn't give him enough and he wishes to see her again.

"Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in
Forgive me, I'm trying to find

But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me"

He is in her neighborhood or house. He remembers when she took him up to her room but she didn't let him in it. He's asking all around her neighborhood if anyone has seen the love of his life, and he doesn't want to come off as a bother or annoying. He wants to ask her to marry him but he can't seem to find her anywhere.

"Even though she doesn't believe in love,
He's determined to call her bluff
    Who could deny these butterflies?
    They're filling his gut
    Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces
    He pleads though he tries
    But he's only denied
Now he's dying to get inside"

She doesn't believe in love but he's convincing himself that she's just saying that to hide her feelings for him. He's waking up the neighbors; asking if they have seen her but they all say that they haven't. He's dying to find her.

"The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn't think much of it then
But it's starting to all make sense
Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds
Are following me in my desperate endeavor
To find my whoever, wherever she may be"

He finally found a neighbor that knew something about what had happened to her...he says that he moved away. That day it rained all day and it's funny to him because of how sad he was to hear this news. He didn't believe that the neighbor had said but now it's starting to make sense to him since he can't seem to find her anywhere. He can now see that bad luck is following him because he can't find her.

"I'm not coming back (forgive me)
    I've done something so terrible
I'm terrified to speak (I'm not calling, I'm not calling)
But you'd expect that from me
I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt, now the rain is just (You're driving me crazy, I'm)

Keeping an eye on the world,
From so many thousands of feet off the ground, I'm over you now
I'm at home in the clouds, and towering over your head"

This is the girl speaking (Juliet Simms of Automatic Loveletter sings this part.) I see two sides to this part of the song. For the first part, I see a girl who is terrified to come back home because she has done something bad like cheating on him and she can't face him because of it. She isn't calling him or picking up his calls because she is terrified of what he might have to say to her. She thinks that he'd expect that from her now because he hasn't heard from her in awhile or because she ignored him for a while so he wouldn't expect her to talk to him anyway. She's confused in what to do but now she's decided to just forget about him and move on. She's taking a plane ride and moving away so she will never see him again; she's tying all knots and saying goodbye. The second side is that she has decided to commit suicide so she's "done something terrible" and now she can't come back to life. When it says she's thousands of feet off the ground, it's suggesting that she's now in heaven or "at home."

"Well I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home now
I guess I'll go home now
    I guess I'll go home"

This is saying that he is going to stop his search for her because he had no luck. He's going to go home and try to move on from her.

General Comment:My explanation is a story. It's just this story I made up, not Alex's story. But it could possibly make sense.
There's this girl, let's call her Juliet. She used to live in this small town with let's say, Alex. But they never really knew each other, never found an interest in each other. And I'm guessing they grew up. She left for college or something. But he stayed at home, and didn't leave. His life became a repetition of dullness so he found comfort in alcohol. After college is done, she comes back to visit her home, her old friends and maybe even an old boyfriend. That's where their romance picks up.
They meet. And they talk. And they go out. And they spend all this time together, neverending time together. He, he can't seem to help falling for this perfect girl. And then there's this day, Sunday that was just perfect in his mind. Where they had breakfast together, and had sex. This mindblowing sex. And he just knows. He knows she's the one. He's going to have to marry her someday. But the twist is, she doesn't think of it like that. She isn't in love with him. Maybe she does believe in love, just not with him because she knows she's not staying. She's going to have leave again soon. She doesn't want love now, she's still so young and free. That's her mindset. And with that in mind, she does something. Maybe she cheats on him with that old boyfriend or maybe the terrible thing Juliet's describing is how she played with his heart and toyed with his feelings. But she leaves. But then it dawns on her that she really did fall in love with this guy so she desperately tries to get him out of her system. She's already gone. She's on a plane going back to where she came from - she's in the clouds, going back home. Somehow he finds out, by all the neighbors probably. And all he can do is go home. And he results to drinking again. And..all he can do is remember sunday.
I get how some people could possibly say suicide. Because of what Juliet sings at the end, but..Vegas and Remembering Sunday are about the same girl. Suicide isn't...realistic.

General Comment:I absolutely love this song. However, it does bring back some sad memories.

My friend Matthew Seifert died and there is a video on YouTube of him singing this song. It brings me to tears every time I hear this song. Weather it be his video or the song alone.

If you would like to see his video, I would suggest just searching "matt seifert remembering sunday" and it should be the first or second one.

General Comment:haha seeing as the question above the post box here says "what does this song mean to you?"

I think it talks about suicide.

The first verse talking about how he's drinking because he is depressed (about something, but we dont know what, yet).
"now this place seems familiar to him", at least for me, suicide makes a home not a home. It feels like just a place, not so much a home anymore.

About the chorus, I think he's been having dreams about her and wants to marry her, so he goes door to door asking if they have seen her. (so he can ask her)

The second verse is pretty straight forward.
though i think it refers to suicide "Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces. he pleads oh he tries, but he's only denied. Now he's dying to get inside." when i hear this i picture her locked in a room (from the first verse) and he's trying to get in but he cant, so he runs to the neighbors to try and get help, but they turn him away.

And I dont really have thoughts about the bridge.

But Juliets part, definitely gives the feel of suicide.
"I'm not coming back (cause she's dead)
I've done something so terrible (suicide)
I'm terrified to speak but you'd expect that from me (her not opening up to him)
I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt (she doesn't know how to feel which probably is what led her to suicide)
Now the rain is just washing you out of my hair."

So that's what I think. Sorry this is so long :)
Feel free to tell me I'm wrong haha

Song Meaning:OMG I LOVE THIS SONG XD
ok anyway, my friend explained this songs meaning.
this song is about a guy being in love with the girl. he was planning on asking her to marry him, so when she asked him if he was going to marry her, he said "no, i cant fall in love" even though he was going to ask her the next day. so out of sadness, the girl commited suicide: "im not coming back... im washing you out of my mind..... im keeping an eye on the world... at home in the clouds, towering over you..." so in the song, the guy is searching for her, "waking the neighbors" hes remembering sunday, the last day they spent together.
