Look at my hands, I'm shaking, all my body is shaking

It was only a dream, mommy

He was there
His car was parked there in the same gas station
All dressed in green, dark green
I couldn't move my head, but I was watching him in the mirror
Oh, it was horrible!
His face was sort of erased
But I knew he was looking at me
Two invisible eyes, two invisible and monstrous eyes

Please stop, you're frightening me

I'm sorry, butterfly
You shouldn't listen to mommy
Go back to sleep

I'm not tired anymore
I just want to get away from here

Mommy needs some sleep too
We've got a long way to go tomorrow
Go back to sleep angel, mom is going to keep the devil away
Now close your eyes, everything is fine, everything is light
Mom loves you more than any mom in the world
See you in the morning light where the bird sings with the sun
I love you, sweetie

I love you, mom

Wake up, wake up!

What's happening?

I felt his breath in my hair
He's here, I know he's here!

Well start the car mom, hurry up!

I can't, I can't, I don't know what to do

Turn the key, please!
Go! Go!

Where is he?

He's right behind us, mom

I told you, you got to keep quiet now!

Mommy, I don't want to die!
I'm so afraid, he's coming!
He's going to hit us
Faster, faster!

I can't, where is he?
You just have to keep quiet
He must be so crazy right now
He is going to kill us for sure

Mom, mom

Shut up!

It's too late, he was just there
It's always too late

Mother
Look at my hands, I'm shaking, all my body is shaking

Daughter
Mommy, it was only, mommy
He was there, he was just there
Mommy

My Opinion:this song will be pretty perfect, if there were two different voices, not just one...

My Opinion:I'm surprised there's so much support for this track on here. It had some potential, but it really doesn't work very well, at all. The dialogue is poor, the voice actress is dreadful, and it ends up as the worst kind of over the top melodrama. Respect to M83 for giving it a go, but it's low point on an otherwise exemplary album.

Lyric Correction:The child in the song is a boy.

He says: "I'll be the best boy in the world" right before the mother says "Shut up!" around 2:37.

There are a lot of other parts to the song that are difficult to hear but that line is pretty clear.

Song Meaning:Not many comments here about this spectacular song. I think it's about an abused person (the mother) who escaped her abuser and sort of created another personality (the daughter) as a defensive mechanism to protect herself. Daughter because children are supposed be innocent and untouched. It's obvious that the mother and the daughter are the same person. In the song, she's escaping from her abuser, but is still seeing him everywhere she turns whether he is really there or not (probably not). I may be way off the mark here, but that's the impression this song gives me. Great song.

General Comment:Oh my god...this is only the second M83 song I've ever heard (first being "Teen Angst") and I'm so impressed, just like I was with the other. Wow, I wonder if every song by this band is going to do this to me.

General Comment:I wish the song had turned out better. The girl doing the voice sounds like such a bad actress, I can't really believe her delivery for a second.

General Comment:I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep and I had Before the Dawn Heals Us playing. I was beginning to dose off while this song came on and it woke me when the mom says "Wake Up! Wake up!" and I was startled the rest of the song. Thankfully Slight Night Shiver relaxed me and I dosed off sometime after that.
