Something about this song... amazes me every time. The combination of voices, of chords, of instruments, gives me the chills. You can just sense the sheer desperation that these kids feel. I just love it.

In the play right before they sing touch me moritz and melchior are talking about the sex book that melchi wrote for moritz.

the lines right before they start singing are something like 'just imagine what it (sex) would be like for the girl, it must be so much more intense ( ok they don't say intense but whatever lol) to restrain yourself and then give yourself up for extacy.' basically... they're putting themselves in the girl's place.

the dialogue in the middle of the song is censored. moritz doesn't say measure up or anatomies, he says it's like the whole world is mesmorized with P and V, and then like I just don't understand how it fits. (hee), the edited version sounds like he's gay.

the rest of the song is like, they all want to be touched because they are restriced from... doing so...

This song is not so much about sex itself, but the lack thereof. Just human contact of any sort is thought to be highly restricted in that time period, so they crave it endlessly. Also, I believe that when he speaks of the place he goes (Where I go, when I go there, no more whispering anymore) he is talking of that small patch of paradise experienced when acting upon your erotic instincts. And lets not forget, this entire song is basically a cry for some sort of contact, and there really isn't more to look into in that area. But that's just what I believe.

This song is about sex. The gay characters in this musical are pretty much...well...you can figure it out, i mean come on? touch me...down where the figs lie...obviously a reference to Adam and Eve pictures where they're covered with fig leaves in their private bits.
