crushcrushcrush Lyrics
I got a lot to say to you
Yeah, I got a lot to say
I noticed your eyes are always glued to me
Keeping them here
And it makes no sense at all

They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
You little spies (x2)

Crush
Crush
Crush
Crush, crush
(Two, three, four!)

Nothing compares to
A quiet evening alone
Just the one
Two of us
Who's counting on
That never happens
I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than this

If you wanna play it like a game
Well, come on, come on, let's play
'Cause I'd rather waste my life pretending
Than have to forget you for one whole minute

They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
You little spies (x2)

Crush
Crush
Crush
Crush, crush
(Two, three, four!)

Nothing compares to
A quiet evening alone
Just the one
Two of us
Who's counting on
That never happens
I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than this now

Rock and roll, baby
Don't you know that we're all alone now?
I need something to sing about
Rock and roll, hey
Don't you know, baby, we're all alone now?
I need something to sing about
Rock and roll, hey
Don't you know, baby, we're all alone now?
Give me something to sing about

Nothing compares to
A quiet evening alone
Just the one
Two of us
Who's counting on
That never happens
I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than
No, oh

Nothing compares to
A quiet evening alone
Just the one
Two of us
Who's counting on
That never happens
I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than
More than this

They're almost right, I sent a correct copy to the Lyric Correction post.
Sounds like someone tried guessing the lyrics from a live version and messed some lines up.

I think this is my favorite song from Riot. It sounds like she was in love with someone but that person doesn't see her anymore because of someone else that wrapped him up with lies.

i agree with shibby shoes, i hated this song too but now it's my favorite.

but i'm still confused with the meaning.

is is about someone who has a crush on someone?
or is she saying she's crushed?

i think she has a crush, and wants a nice "quiet evening alone" but he really doesn't like her back therefore she says "That never happens, I guess I'm dreaming again" i don't know thats just my guess on this and how i really see it. it could mean something totally different though.

i agree with gabbitastic, most of the song makes sense with the idea that she has a crush. playing it like a game is them flirting but nothing ever happens; it makes no sense that all he's doing is looking when they could be together; obviously, "let's be more than this"; and the one "two" she was counting on was.. them as a couple? maybe? hmm?

but i can't figure out who "they" are. i thought maybe it's about gossip, and "they taped over your mouth / scribbled out the truth with their lies / your little spies" might be like the people talking behind their backs about their little crush, and every time someone tells someone else, they warp the truth with their lies.

it's a stretch but it's really all i can think of!

okay, im gonna try and explain what i get out of this song, line by line xD

I got a lot to say to you
Yeah, I got a lot to say
I noticed your eyes are always glued to me
Keeping them here
And it makes no sense at all

he obviously likes her, looks at her.
but nothing more, therefore it makes no sence.

They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies, your little spies
They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies, your little spies

his friends don't want him to say anything to her, and
don't want them together for some reason.

Crush
Crush
Crush
Crush, crush
(Two, three, four!)

shes got a crush on him xD

Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone
Just the one, two of us who's counting on
That never happens
I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than this

all she wants is to be alone with him
but thats never gonna happen, cause he
never does anything more to make it
look like he wants her. she wants them to be together.

If you wanna play it like a game
Well, come on, come on, let's play
Cause I'd rather waste my life pretending
Than have to forget you for one whole minute

so if he just plays with her mind, flirts with her.
she's cool with that, cause its better than nothing.

Rock and roll, baby
Don't you know that we're all alone now?
I need something to sing about
Rock and roll, hey
Don't you know, baby, we're all alone now?
I need something to sing about
Rock and roll, hey
Don't you know, baby, we're all alone now?
Give me something to sing about

somehow shes managed to get alone with him,
and his friends can't say anything or plant things in his head.
she wants him to fall in love with her, she wants them to be together.
so that she can have something REAL to sing about.

this is just what i got out of this song..
i can relate much to this song

I hate how much I can relate to this song. She has a crush on him and he likes her back, but he's in a position where he can't do anything about it. It's completely unfair to her, but she just wants to be with him, even if it means that their relationship stays platonic.

i think this song is about crushes in general, not just her having one of some guy. i think the very first verse shows that some guy has a crush on her that she doesn't return. the first few times i heard this song, i had assumed that it was "rock and roll hurt, don't you know", but i know that it is "hey" not hurt, but i still think hurt would fit better, simply because the song is about being crushed, so i don't think my reasoning is too far off.

peoplee are likeee changing his opinion aboutt her by planting ideas in his head and replacing his ideas about how much he likess this girl withh there own ideas gettin him to not like her as muchhh and turn him against her.

they used to hang out alot alone together, but no it isn't happening anymore and its more like a dream than a chance of it actually happening

I adore this damn song. I HAVE to listen to it at least once a day. I was instantly addicted to it the first time I listened to it. Seriously, after listening to it, I wouldn't listen to ANYTHING else, for like, two days straight. Aaaha. I feel as if I can really relate to this song.

The way I interpreted it was, well, she has a crush on some guy, obviously...

"They taped over your mouth. Scribbled out the truth with their lies, your little spies."
She wants to be with him, but there's stuff preventing them from being together, maybe his friends, family, or simply haters. Who knows?

"Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone
Just the one, two of us who's counting on
That never happens
I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than this"
She wants to be more than friends, she wants to BE with him. She wants to hang out with him by himself, start something. But that never happens, so that's all she dreams of.

First time I listened to this song I laughed at the irony of how much I can relate to this. I think it's about two people who obviously like eachother but nothing happens. The other person is using their friends, 'little spies' to find out info about the peroso they like. When the friends come back with info for him instead of giving him the truth, they give him twisted lies to make the person they're interested in seem like a bad person to make him fall out of his interest. His friends also don't like the girl he has his eyes on so they keep giving him reasons to think poor of her so he doesn't approach her. Basically the said girl, is getting fed up with his friends interferring and giving out lies so she's giving out an ultimatum, where they should just put a stop to these games the friends are playing between them and get together, regardless of what the friends might think. Why keep holding back when they obviously like eachother and could be together?

I may sound crazy but this part of the song reminds me of the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...thats my opinion.
