Work it, make it, do it
Makes us harder, better, faster, stronger

N-n-now that that don't kill me
Can only make us stronger
I need you to hurry up now
'Cause I can't wait much longer
I know I got to be right now
'Cause I can't get much wronger
Man, I've been waiting all night now
That's how long I been on ya
(Work it harder, make it better)
(Do it faster, makes us stronger)
I need you right now
(More than ever, hour after hour, work)
I need you right now

Let's get lost tonight
You could be my black Kate Moss tonight
Play secretary, I'm the boss tonight
And you don't give a fuck what they all say, right?
Awesome, the Christian in Christian Dior
Damn, they don't make 'em like this anymore
I ask, 'cause I'm not sure
Do anybody make real shit anymore?
Bow in the presence of greatness
'Cause right now thou hast forsaken us
You should be honored by my lateness
That I would even show up to this fake shit
So go ahead, go nuts, go apeshit
'Specially in my Pastelle, on my Bape shit
Act like you can't tell who made this
New Gospel, homie, take six and take this, haters

N-n-now that that don't kill me
Can only make us stronger
I need you to hurry up now
'Cause I can't wait much longer
I know I got to be right now
'Cause I can't get much wronger
Man, I've been waiting all night now
That's how long I been on ya
(Work it harder, make it better)
(Do it faster, makes us stronger)
I need you right now
(More than ever, hour after hour, work)
I need you right now (me likey)

I don't know if you got a man or not
If you made plans or not
If God put me in your plans or not
I'm trippin', this drink got me sayin' a lot
But I know that God put you in front of me
So how the hell could you front on me?
It's a thousand yous, there's only one of me
I'm trippin', I'm caught up in the moment, right?
'Cause it's Louis Vuitton Don night
So we gonna do everything that Kan' like
Heard they'd do anything for a Klondike
Well, I'd do anything for a blonde dyke
And she'll do anything for the limelight
And we'll do anything when the time's right
Uh, baby you're makin' it (harder, better, faster, stronger)

N-n-now that that don't kill me (oh, oh)
Can only make us stronger (oh)
I need you to hurry up now (oh)
'Cause I can't wait much longer (oh)
I know I got to be right now (oh)
'Cause I can't get much wronger (oh)
Man I've been waiting all night now
That's how long I been on ya
(Work it harder, make it better)
(Do it faster, makes us stronger)
I need you right now
(More than ever, hour after hour)
(Work is never over) I need you right now

You know how long I've been on ya?
Since Prince was on Apollonia
Since O.J. had Isotoners
Don't act like I never told ya

Don't act like I (never) told ya, uh
Don't act like I (never) told ya
Don't act like I (never) told ya
Don't act like I (never) told ya
Uh, baby, you're makin' it (harder, better, faster, stronger)

N-n-now that that don't kill me
Can only make us stronger
I need you to hurry up now
'Cause I can't wait much longer
I know I got to be right now
'Cause I can't get much wronger
Man, I've been waiting all night now
That's how long I been on ya
(Work it harder, make it better)
(Do it faster, makes us stronger)
I need you right now
(More than ever, hour after hour)
(Work is never over) I need you right now
(Work it harder, make it better)
(Do it faster, makes us stronger)
I need you right now
(More than ever, hour after hour)
(Work is never over) I need you right now

You know how long I've been on ya?
Since Prince was on Apollonia
Since O.J. had Isotoners
Don't act like I never told ya
(Told ya, told ya, never told ya)
(Told ya, told ya, never told ya)
(Told ya, told ya, never told ya)
(Told ya, told ya, never told ya)

(Never over, never over)
(Never over, never over)
(Never over, never over)
(Never over)
(Harder, better, faster, stronger)

(Work it harder, make it better)
(Do it faster, makes us stronger)
(More than ever, hour after hour)
(Work is never over)
(Work it harder, make it better)
(Do it faster, makes us stronger)
(More than ever, hour after hour)
(Work is never over)
(Work it harder, make it better)
(Do it faster, makes us stronger)
(More than ever, hour after hour)
(Work is never over)
(Work it harder, make it better)
(Do it faster, makes us stronger)
(More than ever, hour after hour)
(Work is never over)

I get so sick of people dissing Kanye. Ok, he's big headed he admits it. We're all self conscious. If you're really going to hate on the Rap genre, you're being just as stupid as those hating on your favorite genre of music. Music can't be argued that's the beauty of it. It speaks to your individual self, so to argue with other people about what's "better" is just plain dumb. In a rap game that's quite similar to the NFL - mostly incompetent, with a small upper echelon - Kanye is one of the greatest. He says some of the funniest, most orginal, real shit AND backs them up with just fantastic music. For those of you who complain "Oh he ripped that song and made it 10 x's worse" realize first that he needed to gain rights to that song first, which means that he was given the ok by the artist (granted they're alive). Secondly, if you really like the sample, realized that so did Kanye! People look at sampling as stealing, but the way Kanye does it is out of respect - he's paying tribute. He has his idea of what GOOD music is, even if its not rap, and he incorporates it into his own music. Kanye, realizes good music outside his favorite genre, which is more than I can say for most of those on a heavy diet of Hater-ade.

I wasn’t keen on this song at first, rather bored to tears since I am no aficionada of rap -- but it looped on my roommates itunes for what seemed like 3 weeks straight I grew a liking.

Sampling is a component to rap and hip-hop in its origin so it’s pretty customary that he’d be sampling a song that may have some connotation to his own composition, not to mention, availing on its techno beat. Understandable. I think this song’s meaning yells out his views on the music industry -- even more specifically, the politics behind the award ceremonies -- which sound like a sore subject for him. I don’t know what issues he has nor how his behavior was at a previous awards ceremony but he seems to feel as if it’s plagued with pretentious bureaucracy. With the untrained ear, at first listen, this song seems flatly to be about the pursuit of a woman, a woman that is difficult to get to, worth his efforts no matter how many let downs, turn downs, or distractions from other “less genuine” females -- and the frustration he has builds up -- it makes him stronger. The pursuing of the woman is an allegory of his place in the business as a musician and as a celebrity. The meaning is underlined, the sex sells it. The sex is a means of reaching out to your attention… otherwise the song would be less interesting if be blabbed on about his ideology in a literal sense -- clubs wouldn’t play that shit. The line about the “Klondike” is great… just one of the reoccurring regards to pretense.

    So rap on Sir Greatness.

Actually the lyrics say I know I got to be RIGHT now, cause I can't get much WRONGER. I think there are two main points to this song. One is about a female, who he has been trying to get at for a long time, and for some reason she is not feelin him. He has been on her since the nineties, since Prince was on Appolonia, since O.J. had Isotoners... and she didn't reciprocate. Another point to the song is how washed up a lot of music events and musicians are nowadays. He is trying to make a point that he is staying true to real music.

I think this song is just Kanye venting what all has been on his mind since his last decent hit..."Jesus Walks". Personally the only thing that caught this song to my ear was the Daft Punk chorus....Pure Perfection in its Prime! W2G DaftPunk......*

The Daft Punk song doesn't sound ANYTHING like his song. The only thing he sampled was the "Stronger" robot voice part.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
