Hurtful words,
From my enemies of the last five years,
What's it like to die alone?

How does it feel when tears freeze,
When you cry?
The blood in your veins is twenty below.

Sitting in this room playing Russian roulette,
Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet,
Out from the window see her back drop silhouette,
This blood on my hands is something I cannot forget,

Sitting in this room playing Russian roulette,
Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet,
Out from the window see her back drop silhouette,
This blood on my hands is something I cannot forget,

Something I cannot forget.

So for now, take this down a notch,
Crash my car through your window,
Make sure you're still alive,
Just in time to kill you,

Sitting in this room playing Russian roulette,
Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet,
Out from the window see her back drop silhouette,
This blood on my hands is something I cannot forget,

Sitting in this room playing Russian roulette,
Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet,
Out from the window see her back drop silhouette,
This blood on my hands is something I cannot forget,

Something I cannot forget.

I can't take this (take) anymore
I can't take this (take) anymore
I can't take this (take) anymore
(I cannot feel what you've done to me)
I can't take this (take) anymore
(What you've done to me)

So for now, take this down a notch,
Crash my car through your window,
(Window)

Sitting in this room playing Russian roulette,
Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet,
Out from the window see her back drop silhouette,
This blood on my hands is something I cannot forget,

Sitting in this room playing Russian roulette,
Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet,
Out from the window see her back drop silhouette,
This blood on my hands is something I cannot forget,

Something I cannot forget.

I'm not sure, but what I get from this song is that his longterm girlfriend cheats on him with someone who has liked her the whole time they were going out. He ends up despising his girlfriend and does things to hurt her emotionally and perhaps physically 'finger on the trigger to my dear juliet.' I could be wrong but that's just what I got from it.

I'm absolutely sure that this song is full of references to Romeo and Juliet.... They're everywhere in the song, and in the video. Personally, I think the song is about the chick who cheated on Ronnie, he is angry and sad, and wants to kill himself, as stated before. However... the line about having blood on his hands, maybe he blames himself for what 'Juliet' did, rather than having hurt her himself. In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Romeo kills himself after finding out that Juliet has killed herself, not realising that she hasn't actually. Maybe "Romeo" did something that he feels caused "Juliet" to leave, or cheat on him, and maybe that hurt her as well, and he blames himself for it, hence the blood on his hands. I also think that the reference to russian roulette is metaphorical, perhaps addressing that life is chance, and fate will decide whether he wins or loses. The first verse is my favourite, I think that it addresses the relationship between the two, (the Montague and Capulet families, or Ronnie/Romeo and Juliet). The hurtful words from his enemies of the last five years could be what she said to him that hurt, or what other people said ABOUT him. The What's it like to die alone? could be about his loss, or to Juliet's loss. 'Blood in your veins is 20 below' I think is referring to the fact that she is cold blooded, or has no feeling. The verse 'so for now, take this down a notch, crash my car through your window. Make sure you're still alive, just in time to kill you' I don't think is literal, again, i think Ronnie/Romeo is saying that because of something that he did, probably accidently (crashed his car through her window, metaphorically), Juliet suffered for it, or made choices which hurt her. Making sure she's still alive because he still loves her, and just in time to kill her because maybe he won't forgive her. Thats my little explanation. :)

Alright you people are so stupid. "Finger on the trigger to find you Juliet" makes no damn sense in this song. I have this cd and in the little booklet it says "Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet."

Maybe "to my dear Juliet" means to his head, being that his "Juliet" is always on his mind.

ITs a gam you play with a round gun...you pass it aroud and take turns putting it to your head and pulling the trigger and who ever gets the bullet dies...i think hes playing it beacuse hes deppressed that the girl he loved died and he cant take it anymore

first verse means the person is cold-hearted/emotionless. hence the line the blood in your veins is 20 below (iced heart pumps cold blood)and this person is so hurtful 2 others that she ends up alone. Playing Russian Roulette signifys that either he or his lover must die. in the game there's one bullet n therefore one player dies. *finger on the trigger to my dear juliet means he cant decide whether to kill himself or his lover(juliet) Then he goes on to say that he wants the satisfaction of looking at her drop lifeless to the floor but if he kills her and gets her blood on his hands, then he'd surely never forget her. So he takes his plan down a notch and instead of shooting her..he decides to crash his car through her window. by doing that, the car would hit her and kill her instead of him actually coming out and doing it wit his hands. He then makes up his mind that he definately wants 2 kill her so rushs out 2 c if shes still alive to kill her by himself. the song is based on a bad relationship where the girl badly hurt the guy. and he felt angry. ultimately he decided it was either him or her 2 die. he chose her and planned to kill her:) i love this song!:)

I think song is like modern day Romeo and Juliet except instead of Romeo drinking poison first, she does and they both kill themselves...

its bassically is talking about a sucide or a murder the only reason i think that is because Russian Roulette is a game when you have a gun and the roulette is the thing you put the bullet in and you spen it than shuve it back into the gun,and you pull the trigger snd hope the bullet isnt in the next one........:-]

    My Interpretation

I know this is late, but it's relevant to a situation, so that is probably the only reason i'm even hearing it like this. It kinda sounds like he's putting himself in a risky situation. I'm guessing he's talking the version of Russian Roulette where everyone points the gun at a different persons head, and maybe he's saying that he's with someone else, and it is risky, because he shouldn't be there because he almost knows something will happen that will hurt the person he cares about "Juliet"..Just a suggestion.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
