I married in the sun (tell me where tell me where)
Against the stone of buildings built before
You and I were born (start again start again)
To my heart confusion rose against
The muscles fought so long (fought so long)
To control against the pull of one
Magnet to another magnet to another
Magnet
Now we look up in (tell me who tell me who)
To the hours of bodies breaking past
They seem so very tough (it's a lie it's a lie)
They seem so very scared of us
I look into the mirror (look into)
For evil that just does not exist
I don't see what they see (tell them that tell them that)
Try to control the pull of one
Magnet to another magnet to another
Magnet to another magnet to another
Against the stone of buildings built before
You and I were born (start again start again)
To my heart confusion rose against
The muscles fought so long (fought so long)
To control against the pull of one
Magnet to another magnet to another
Magnet
Now we look up in (tell me who tell me who)
To the hours of bodies breaking past
They seem so very tough (it's a lie it's a lie)
They seem so very scared of us
I look into the mirror (look into)
For evil that just does not exist
I don't see what they see (tell them that tell them that)
Try to control the pull of one
Magnet to another magnet to another
Magnet to another magnet to another

I read that somewhere.
They were together for 5 years.
And the song is basically saying that she sees not the evil that everyone seems to see when they look at gays.
She's talking about not understanding homophobia ETC.
It's beautiful.
I adore this song.
It helps me a lot.
Which is pretty simple, but I think she achieved that in a really awesome way.
I think when she talks about being married in the sun, the sun could show taht she's happy and in-love. "Against the stone of buildings built before you and I were born" could refer to stereotypes and prejudices ingrained in socitey. She also illustrates her struggle with trying to fit in to those stereotypes by saying that "the muscles fought so long to control against the pull of one magnet to another". By saying that she has to look into the eyes of the bullies, she's saying that they're taller, that they're superior (that they're politicians...).
Personally, I think this is more than just about gay marraige, but rather being gay and being okay with yourself. :)
"Now we look up in, into the eyes of bullies breaking backs. They seem so very tough, they seem so very scared of us"
people who are against gay marriage ARE afraid.
"I look into the mirror for evil that just does not exist, I don't see what they see"
everyone else is baffled because theres no reason to be frightened by gay marriage, theres nothing evil about it. marriage is bonding two people who love each other for life. its a basic human right.
"Try to control the pull of one magnet to another"
they're trying to say that two people cannot be together by law because it is against a religious view.
does anyone think that this is unconstitutional? isnt basing a state law on a religious belief interfere with the wall dividing church and state?
yeah.
So,about the song it's pretty clear that it is about the homophobia and the after break-up thing..
well, you can't look in the mirror and see that part of you that seems weird for the rest of the society,it's just who you are, you're born with it and if it makes you happy I don't find anything wrong with the whole same-sex thing,I approve it , but there are still a lot of people who haven't experienced it so they still have the old-fashioned point of view that 100 % the marriage should be between woman and man..I don't mean that it is a fashion to be gay :D so.. for all the people who have to say something bad about the gay relationships- shut the fuck up.
And the part with the magnets is pretty romantic,I was surprised,it sounds very good indeed :)
so I don't think that "trying to control the pull of one magnet to another" should be hidden or keeping in secret ot that sort of stuff.. I mean if you feel about this person very strong in one moment you shouldn't care where you are ,who you are, what are the going to think after you come out of the closet .. somethimes the chemistry is too bad to resist, you know :D
I look into the mirror for evil that just does not exist
I don't see what they see
They don't see anything wrong with being gay opposed to heterosexuals. (btw I'm straight)
Someday... Someday...
