I think this song is about a person who is now seeing the world in a more postive and brighter perspective. . .whereas before they were probably in a negative state of mind or emotion letting their troubles consume them and drag them down in the process . .but now they've come to a realisation that . .
"Hey ! Shyt happens. At least I'm alive and thats what counts. NOW."
They're no longer taking things for granted, and trying to predict what the future holds for them instead they seem to have opted for a simple purpose in life.
i.e. Just living through their obstacles and facing all problems that live throws at them. Thus making them feel even more alive for having survived their difficulties.
and they seemed to have grasped a concept . .the philosophy of life.The use of metaphorical langauge and symbolism is clever . .
Every individual are a source of 'light' - the soul.
